What a wonderful story! I was only frustrated when the girl wouldn't let me put the egg yolk in like she said her brother remembered and she got cross with me, but that was fitting too, considering the end. I didn't know much about mooncakes before this, but now I'd love to try one! What a beautiful tradition and a lovely game.
Thanks for the feedback!
I couldn't personally connect to the story since there is no mooncakes tradition in my family. But I could feel the love and care that went into this game. Well done to the contributors!
Really appreciate your feedback. Making the story have an aspect where it also relates to others in general should’ve definitely been something we thought of!
I feel like I should also note, the last mooncake was the last game I played in a session of playing and rating games. By that point I was a bit tired and started skipping dialogue to get to the gameplay, which I later realized is not the type of game the last mooncake was built to be. Dialogue turned out to be important part of story and gameplay, which I think is a very cosy way to make a game. Very wearing one's heart on their sleeve-esque? Or perhaps I think so because I prefer less dialogue in games at this time in my life. All that to say take my feedback with a grain of salt. I think maybe I am unable to recognize the true experience offered by the last mooncake.
Yet I felt the emotion of conveying an important part of your life in a game. I resonate with making a game about my childhood foods and writing characters who connected to their loved ones with those foods. I hope I'm not misinterpreting the team's intentions and going off about emotions by myself, but I really like the emotion I sense is behind the game. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much for this! It means a lot that you took the time to write this. I agree that a lot of dialogue can make a game tiring, and it's something we weighed while writing. Dialogue is how we chose to tell this story, and I know it asks a lot of a player.
You didn't misread our intentions at all. Each of our team members had our own way of interpreting this story during our discussions, and your reading definitely fits some of ours!
Thank you again for the thoughtful feedback!
the vibe and overall playing style feel very cozy and reminds me of making mooncakes with my own family back in china.
Thanks! Happy to hear that feedback!
