How does your game meet GBJam's theme
The game follows Hank Chambers and his crewmate as they search for a legendary treasure called Dollar Bill, after a piece of its long-lost map is recently discovered.
It fits the OLD GOLD theme through the idea of a forgotten treasure from the past being rediscovered. The treasure has been hidden for a long time, and the discovery of the old map brings something once lost back into the present. It’s about the excitement of uncovering something that has been waiting to be found for years.

I had a great time with this one! I can tell that a lot of care and effort went into it, and I'll always have a lot of respect for devs that use 3D in GameMaker (I used to do the same). The scope of this game is perfect. There isn't much that happens, but everything that does happen is different than what came before, which makes each event feel exciting. Captain Golden Bones is hard as hell. It had me gamer raging, but that death animation was pretty cool, and I was happy with the ending. So I'd say it was worth the half hour it took me to beat him lol. This deserves more ratings.
This is a very charming game with a lot of kooky humor! I got stuck on the first fight because half the time I just get yeeted immediately, and the other half I just can't seem to deal enough damage to win. Though this does fit perfectly within all the rules of the jam, to me it just doesn't carry the spirit of a Game Boy game because it's a very clearly a visually modern 3D game made to look like it's on a Game Boy, but otherwise it's nearly full marks.
I also noticed a slight bug where the game over screen appears to transition away, but goes right back to the screen until the fanfare is finished playing.
Great job with this!
Honestly, the fact that it doesn’t really look like a Game Boy bothers me too. I’m not the best when it comes to art in general, since I’ve always focused exclusively on learning programming. Recently, I started getting into 3D, and I’m genuinely interested in it, so I thought it would be cool to try something like this. Thanks for the criticism, I’m here to improve. 😊
I'm surprised to find a first person shooter in gameboy style, but it's a stylish one!
