The page footer for itch.io presents the defunct Twitter icon on nearly every page.

I recommend its removal to be replaced with a Mastodon icon and link.

Alternate suggestion: Remove the site’s neglected social media link menu fully.

Contact info for Itch.io is linked in the footer. That’s much more important.

For promotion, individual creators can link to wherever that’s allowed. (X-Twitter suppresses external links and artist accounts.)

Plus: Remove the promotion of Twitter/X in the publication confirmation emails.

Every time I see the links on itch.io feels gross.

When I see news about Musk’s X pushing Grok and/or encouraging X users to replace images posted on that platform with AI junk— or when the US government announces X is officially a propaganda platform— I want to ask, “Is this what Leafo wants itch.io associated with?”

Is it?

Removing the site’s social media bars is now my top suggestion.

Leafo or whoever can continue posting wherever he wants and point people to Itch.io. There’s no good reason to direct traffic the other direction.
