A really cool idea that id like to see expanded if you want to.
Super creative submission! I had some fun playing this :) Some gameplay feedback would be to maybe balance some of the upgrade options, maybe even randomizing what could be upgraded. I felt like it got to a point where I was choosing all the lowest corruption choices because the gold upgrades made that make more sense to me.
What an absolutely creative idea for a fall game! Very fun to play. There could be a music accompaniment, and/or some SFX, it would make the experience way better. But one can really see how difficult it is to avoid corruption, ahah Politicians, you’re forgiven!
A good game. A little repetitiv at the end.
Glad you enjoyed. And time and space made it such that the end doesn’t satisfy.
At first, I wasn’t quite sure how the mechanics worked, but the game gradually drew me in. I’d love to see more uses for the plants you find besides just turning them into gold.
I hear you. My original design was meant to include an option to sell or to eat the plant for some kind of benefit. Future thoughts for future projects thanks for playing
I like these type of games, the biggest one I remember sinking a ton of time into was the wilderness section of Anti-Idle during the flash game era. Love the plant art and the slight randomness the game has. The gold value seems to scale a bit too exponential where the 3rd zone gave me so much I could max out nearly everything and skip the 4th entirely. Very fun!
thanks for playing. Yeh… balance was unfortunately on the list of “not enough time”
So roll in that cash.
I played Fey Bouquet for hours and I think it's a gripping character study of a man named Forrest, who is corrupt. As evidenced by the opening line: "The forrest is corrupt." We are never told what he did, but I assume it is tax related.
The color bar is obviously a mood ring. I watched mine drift from sunny yellow to deep purple, and by the end I was deeply, spiritually purple. The game warns that I will be "Corrupted at: 20," which I took to mean that at twenty years old, you simply become a bad person. Sadly, I have found this to be true. When I turned 20, I developed a fondness for yelling at puppies.
The locations tell the story of a dog's life. He approached "The Edge," barked at something ("The Ruff"), napped under a tree ("The Shade"), woke up in the evening ("The Dark"), and then drank root beer ("The Root").
The Acorn of Life is a metaphor for a 401(k). Deep down at the root, waiting, unreachable, and probably worth less than promised. I ended the game with $0 and felt it was the most honest portrayal of my finances I've seen in media.
5 stars. Forrest, if you're reading this, you know who you are, I forgive you.
RIP Forrest.
That was a lot of fun! I don't usually enjoy a 'buy upgrades' game but I liked this one and I *loved* the illustrations as I went deeper into the forest! You've made some funky little guys (sometimes, with knives!) and I loved them.
P.s. Played until I won!
Never buy asparagus from the wrong side of the track… thanks for the kind words. I’m glad you enjoyed it.
It was a lot of fun, thanks.
This is a really cool game, but some music or sfx would've been nice too! I like the art and it was fun!
thanks.
