Hey! With FQ9 ending soon, I wanted to let you know that I won't be able to cover your game until after the event. If you're okay with waiting, just keep the game on the event and I'll be getting around to it over the next couple of months or so. :)
That'll be no problem at all
Pretty solid visual novel. As there was no free version available, I played through the entire demo at least for some initial impressions. It is appreciated that the art is actually human made and its very noticable that the developer/artist cared about this project.
Visual novels arent particularly intricate mechanically, so the basic functionality, menus, options all worked as intended. There are some minor graphical nitpicks, where I would have enjoyed seeing more different art pieces, on long car rides, which felt a bit static, and some poses were double used for the scene and speaker pictures, but these are minor complaints.
The story is definitely interesting and while I dont want to give too much away, the mix of cute and casual conversations mixed with a rather unsettling gorey reality is a mix that definitely lands here. My biggest issue is the pacing. You could literally spend a few minutes reading about sandwich wrapping, which is intended as small and cozy interludes to get to know characters before inevitable bad things happen. The core concept of that is solid, but I feel like there would have been a way to make all these sections a bit more concise without losing out on characterisation or flavour or to focus on interludes that actually are inherently interesting as well.
The overarching story seems a bit confusing at first as it is told from different angles, but the dev definitely hit the spot in making it "intriguing" and making the player to learn more about it. So, well done :)
Glad you liked it!
It certainly might be worth looking into making the prologue part a bit snappier, although the main problem would be keeping the same sense of false security before it all kicks off, but I'm sure I could come up with something :)
I've got no plans for it at the moment - got three other episodes in various stages of development, but after they've been dealt with, maybe I'll return to this.
