Hi! We're Windquill, a team of two making our first game around work and study. One of us is still at university. We'd like to introduce Daylight Line and share some of our progress here.

Daylight Line is a single-player, anime-inspired roguelite deckbuilder set in Daylight City, a modern city between the mountains and the coast. You and your companions take on jobs from a local investigation agency and head into changing anomaly zones. Between investigations, you return to the city and spend time with the same characters outside battle.

If you enjoy the party-building side of Chrono Ark and the card battles of Slay the Spire, that's the sort of combination we're working with. You build a party of up to three characters, each with her own cards, passive abilities, link skills, and burst skills.

Playing one character's cards can create opportunities for another to follow up, while each character builds up energy for her burst. Conditional links and defense breaks give us more ways for the party to work together, so choosing your team is part of building your strategy.

Exploration takes place in changing 3D areas, with routes, supplies, and encounters that can differ between visits. When you meet enemies, you switch to 2D card battles. Weather and different times of day also change how the areas look.

Back in the city, there are shops to run, land to buy, crops to grow, and arcade games to play. These activities feed into character growth, outfits, rare cards, and hidden events. There's quite a bit for the party to do between investigations.

We've also been making light Live2D animations, outfits, and little accessories you can switch between for the characters. Getting to see them in everyday life is a big part of what we want to make.

The game is still in development, and these are work-in-progress screens. We're continuing to improve the UI and environments. Our current target is 12+ characters, 20+ outfits, 5+ maps with different styles, and 150+ cards. We're planning a Windows release on Steam in 2027.

We'll use this thread for development updates, including more of the characters, card battles, and city activities as they take shape. Thanks for taking a look! If you'd like to follow the game, you can wishlist it on Steam.

It looks great so far! The city screenshot really stands out for me! It's cool seeing the different parts of the game coming together!

I'm curious how you coordinate everything between the different people working on it.

Hi~Thank you for you like! Our team have only 2  person, and we do everything together~ Small team means easy decision for gameplay~

That's awesome! My husband and I actually started making a game, but we stopped because we realized there was no great place to keep our game organized while building it, so we put our game on halt and actually made a project management system for us and other game developers! were about to go into our beta so if you wanted to join let me know! I think you two would be a good fit!
