I really liked this game. I think it could greatly benefit with a few tweaks. For starters I would have the jump button be both space and W (unless w is used else where). Having W be the jump button would make hasten the pace of the game which I feel would benefit it. I would also add an indicator as to where your attack is going to hit (specifically switches) as it tells the player they can actually interact with the environment.
Also I think the game is a little broken as I got to an elevator part where the platform would not rise far enough for me to continue progressing. Overall great core (truly) just needs some tweaks.
Are you talking about the elevator part in level two? If so, you are supposed to wall jump on the wall (which if you didn't know we had a wall jump it's the thing you collect on the first level, I will make an update soon with text since we never tell players there is a walljump). Also, W is to aim upwards. We are going to release some updates soon for the game like a balance one and a juice one so hopefully that addresses some of the issues you see in out game.
I plan to wait a bit before I rate this game, to see if the dev makes any changes. I've played to completion, I've played many games like it; that's not a bad thing, what's bad is that there many other games like it that I'd rather play first at the moment. It has promise though, and I'm hopeful that a few balance changes and a clean up will make it one of the best games in the jam, albeit a lacking in the theme a fair bit.
Edit: I have now played the game after it was updated, I like the improvements, and I can now say that this is not last game of its kind I would rather play. Having been able to enjoy it more, I can better feel how it connects the jam's theme. I still wish there were some more changes made to balancing and level design, but for what it is, it's a great game.
We are planning to update the game soon with balance fixes and UI fixes, as the game was meant to be challenging but not unfair, and as of right now it the game does seem a bit unfair. I would estimate the updates to come around Wednesday or Thursday. Also, the point of the game is you are in an out-of-control robot and you are making your way up the robot from the inside to get out and beat him. It isn't really stated anywhere but that's how it's supposed to tie with the theme.
