Even with the tutorial, the game was a confusing to figure out. A lot of this is that the game needs more VFX and SFX. These can be used to indicate to the player how much more wood they need for the house and when the fire used up another piece of wood. The other issue that I experienced with this game is that it is quite difficult for new players. It seems like you have to move very quickly in the beginning or else it will be too cold for you to do anything other than getting fire. Using Flow Theory, this game is on the more anxious side as the difficulty if too high for a new players skill.

With that said, the core game mechanic is quite unique, especially since it combines side scrolling checks with building mechanics and the small minigame of chopping the wood. I also liked the art style and for AI music its quite good.

The main take away from this is that you have a good game that is just stuntend by it being too difficult for beginners and it needs more indicators to the player.

I had loads of fun on this one. Pixel art was great, BOBR GOES BRRRRRR was fantastic too. I don't really have any issues with any part of the game, its a simple and fun  game, however I think the woodcutting could be expanded on, it felt a bit one dimensional with longer log cut = more logs, so I'd just go to the furthest extent I could every time. maybe having it where the player gets as many logs as they have cut sections (if that makes sense), could add a bit of risk/reward, so they can spend more time cutting and lose more heat in the process, but thats all I can think of. Great job!

BOBRRRR!!!1!!

I like logs. Logs are good. Big logs, small logs, fire logs - I love every log. Brrrr. 🦫

Okay, now let's get to the actual things I'd like to point out!

  • The artwork is absolutely gorgeous. The drawings look fantastic!
  • The game could use a tutorial at the beginning. I was a little lost at first and wasn't quite sure what to do or how to play. It took me a while to figure out on my own that the more wood you chew through in one go, the more wood you get.
  • The game takes quite a while to complete. I'd work on the balancing, since there are so many games to try during a jam, and it's always nice when a game doesn't require too much time to finish. A significant portion of the gameplay is spent standing by the campfire, slowly warming up. Also, it's unclear how many planks you need to build the house. It would be nice to know the required amount in advance so you can estimate how long the game will take. Maybe you only need 10 logs... or maybe 100. The second possibility is pretty terrifying xD
  • The game's presentation could use some attention, too. The cover art looks great, but the game page itself could use a bit of work. That said, this isn't a critical issue.
  • I really like the creativity behind the core gameplay. Playing as a beaver and chewing through wood is a pretty original way to interpret the jam's theme.
  • Bonus points for having a full settings menu! A lot of games overlooked that aspect, so it's nice to see it here.
  • I've grown to love chewing on logs. =D
  • Your game has three "rooms," and mine has three "rooms" too. Great minds think alike, huh? =D

Overall, it's a small game with a good foundation. With a few more mechanics, some balancing adjustments, and a bit of polish, I could genuinely see it being worth promoting on the mobile market.

It's a great idea with a solid implementation. Well done! ❤️

Thank you so much for ur feedback, i appreaciate it, really.  Yeahh i did a little speedrun and was able to finish it in 2 minutes 40 seconds, X.x my fingers were hurting hahah. And i also already saw, everyone got so amazing Presentations on the Website pages, i will try to focus on that in the next jam! And in the Startscreen is a tutorial button, but i guess i could highlight some informations regarding the finish and logs. I hope anyone was able to see the finish screen :P

Amazing pixel art and cozy atmosphere. Ambient music is good too.

Insane amount of polish and mechanics for a 72 hour jam. Very impressive.  Love the way you have to balance building the cabin and keeping the fire going. The beaver-chopping is also hilarious and really well made.

Fun and very well-rounded game.
