Wow, it's a very unique take on the limitation! And it's challenging too. I'd recommend it to everyone, who loves sudoku and what to expirience something new.

I really enjoy sudoku’s, but I’m at a point where they are either to simple, or to hard. Well, my friend, you found a way to make them tricky again while still solvable 🫡 I played with the spacebar, and it took me a bit to acclimate, it is super hard to focus on a moving grid! I also wonder how you managed to make that happen without it breaking the puzzle, I guess it is a proof that you understand how this puzzle works in depth! Super clever Idea and good execution of it, I would’ve loved more music as I really didn’t like 1/2 of them ahahah (… does that even count as a pun?) It took me something like half an hour to solve the beginner puzzle. I really enjoyed that time 🍁

Thank you for your feedback! Definitely was hoping to find more music but I suppose that’s just the way the game jams sometimes. The shuffling is done by swapping columns and rows so you can swap columns (all 9) of cells as long as they stay in the same group and swap columns of groups while keeping a valid puzzle. The same can be done with rows. Here’s a great article about the transformations (https://www.shapedoku.com/articles/sudoku-grid-transformations-explained)!

Again thank you for playing!

Very creative take on the limitation, and a clever idea. The ML model worked well too.

Cool implementation of the blink tracking for the jam's limitation, probably the most creative so far, but maybe not a good idea for a sudoku game. Shuffling the grid was a bit distracting, saying this as a big sudoku lover with a heavy ADHD.  Still, a well-crafted game, appreciate being able to use my keyboard for numbers switching and for quickly switching filling numbers / candidates, also appreciate a spacebar alternative to blinking as someone with chronically dry eyes (my eyes hurt if I try to hold blinking). Visuals and sound is also pleasing.

Thanks for the feedback! Any ideas on how to make it more enjoyable? I had considered making it so it only shuffled the grid every X blinks instead of every time, but ran out of time before I could get the UI in a nice state.

As a sudoku lover and HCI researcher I tried to make the experience as smooth as possible to counteract the frustration from the shuffling. Thanks for playing!

Hm, maybe I'd try experimenting with having two set grids and switching between them instead? You can make it a separate mode and collect feedback on what people prefer, if you have friends to test the game.

Had to rack my brain for this hahaha! Loved the way you implemented the limitation into such a classic game!

Loved the title screen, really polished! The falling leaves were especially pretty. I also liked how you encouraged the player to actually blink when using the spacebar option rather than just pressing it whenever they wanted. Really clever way to reinforce the limitation! Such a unique take on the theme. Great jam entry!

Thank you! During testing I was straining my eyes just to make sure things didn't change, so I thought it was a fun way to address that. Glad you enjoyed it!

I thought I wasn't that bad at Sudoku but it seems I was wrong, it took me quite a while just for Casual Mode. Loved your use of the limitation making it quite original.

Thanks for playing! It took us quite a while to finish casual the first time too!

I wish I was more smarter in Sudoku rahhh but it's very very cool. Awesome game loop and the use of local ML is very cool too. Good job!!!

Developer

Thank you! There's definitely some added challenge when the numbers start moving haha!

This is an incredibly creative take on the limitation! I love regular soduku, so the added challenge makes this especially fun!
