Contest LAB - skill based multiplayer speedrunning game - DAY 0 LAUNCH

Today I released Contest LAB. It’s a collection of short, addicting trials that test reaction time, mouse precision, keyboard accuracy, memory, timing, and a few skills that are harder to describe until you’ve tried them. Most of them are all skills that you would find on a "skills test" site, except these are multiplayer, and are all globally ranked as well!

The downloadable version has 26 total trials (for now), along with the Gauntlet: a continuous run that asks you to clear 15 randomized trials. I wanted both quick “one more attempt” sessions and something you could sit down and really try to conquer.

Multiplayer and leaderboards are now live, too. Getting those ready has taken a lot of the final development push: lobby joining, starting matches together, keeping results in sync, and making sure scores are validated before they reach the board. I’ve tested as much as I can, but Day 0 is when a game meets situations I couldn’t reproduce on my own.

My next priorities are fixing any launch issues, smoothing out the multiplayer experience, and adjusting trials that turn out to be confusing or unfair. If you play, I’d genuinely appreciate hearing what worked and what didn’t. This is a passion project for me, as I think these kinds of games where you master a skill are cool to see a community form around. A screenshot or a few steps to reproduce an issue would help enormously.

Thanks to everyone giving the LAB a try on its first day. I’m excited (and a little nervous) to see what scores people put up.

The LAB thanks you for your participation.
