Art is crazy and absolutely PEAK

A dark, sad tale, well written and beautifully illustrated. And in the end, perhaps, they both got what was deserved. Well Done

Really beautiful artwork! This did not feel like a jam game, but a properly polished, fully-fledged game--and not only because of the polished feeling, but also due in no small part to the quality of writing.

I don't normally play a lot of visual novels, and don't have much experience with this genre, but this was really captivating. I must admit that I booted the game up while grabbing a bite, but ended up with an almost full plate when the game was done.

Because I just jumped in without reading much of the description, I initially expected a story like The Tell-Tale Heart. I have seen your mention of the The Fall of the House of Usher in the artistic inspirations section only after finishing the game, but the Gothic influence is unmistakable--which I really enjoy.

I decided to stick by Lord Ruysch, because it felt like a more fitting end to the story, one that complements the regrettable life they both have had.

Thanks a lot for the game, really nice work!

Old main Yaoi? Hell yeah!

Two old men in a manor by the sea is a strangely underutilized setting. The narrative was fascinating and the art was beautiful. It isn't easy to pull off a limited color palette. My one complaint is that there wasn't much horror. They eat the mermen (if I understood correctly), but it didnt have much impact on me. Still, one of the better submission I've played so far.

I really loved playing this game!

The art direction is beautiful, with a limited yet striking colour palette. Very quiet, melancholic feel, perfectly enchanced by the sound design.

The story is very well written, with beautiful prose and subtlety when needed. There are a few typos here and there but that is to be expected from a jam game and nothing gets in the way of understanding the story. I really liked how the mermen were depicted, as these supernatural beings tied to the weather and crying out in the protagonist's mind. Had that calming yet eerie vibe to them.

I went with the sea ending because screw our lord, we deserve better /j

Lovely game, you did a great job!

Game is currently disqualified but not removed. Your game page says you did not use generative AI, yet here it says you did. What's the truth here?

Thanks for the quick reply. We temporarily disqualify entries and reach out to figure out unclear cases like this. Having played the game and read your reply, it does appear to be just a mistake, and as such we've requalified the game. Sorry for any stress this may have caused whilst we sorted this out, and thank you for submitting The Manor and the Sea to the jam!
