Main game:

Our story starts with a young monkey with a big problem! Though he has always known the good life on the coast of the Mediterranean, well he is a monkey you see, so is the rest of his family and wouldn’t you know it but they all love bananas! There is the problem, can you believe it mom is allergic to bananas! All his life our young monkey watched his mom, watch them as they enjoyed bananas. When the time came for our young monkey to grow up and go to Monkey University, he knew what he had to do!

Years later, our young monkey, now a bit older has done it. Done what? Well he’s made the perfect banana! In his monkey science lab, of course! Older young monkey, having solved his mom’s issue and now having a lot of bananas lying around getting more and more brown… He and his mom decide to open a bakery!

They make them all but of course they specialize in Banana Cake Al Fresco.


Mini-game:

Banana Mash

You have up to 2:20s to peel, chop, and mash 5 bananas.
Bananas will be tossed at you and you will need to catch the 5 required bananas for the cake, peel them completely, chop them into 5 pieces and toss them into a bowl and mash them with a masher til smooth.


The Loop:
I don’t play to many of these chaotic cooking type games, so I did research the basic structure of one.

I wanted the loop to increase in its speed and intensity as the time clock would be getting closer and closer to ending. Starting with the drums using the step sequencer, I looked for kits that might have anything that sounded like it could come from the kitchen, literally found one called In The Kitchen right away! I didn’t want the drums to be too similar or too different but here is where I wanted some of the chaotic feel to come from in the changing of the drum kits. The free reed instrument was the most challenging part to really implement but I was able to get the legacy instruments in LogicPro and found an accordion and that completely changed the course I was taking but for the best! I had some foley sound packs and was able to get to use them in a way that hopefully added to the idea of this being found in a video game mini-game. The end drums and bass are my favorite aspect and I think I really executed the speed well with the drums. Festival Drop drum kit paired with the Megalodon bass plugin, what a match!

Bonus Challenges
