I really like the setting and atmosphere. Each enemy in the game had a specific role that they nailed, the Yurei and Ferryman were terrifying.
I did run into a lot of technical issues. The first time I died, when I tried to play again it just showed the main character face down on the ground and never progressed.
I think with a bit of bug-fixing and polish this could be really fun without many functional changes, nice work!
Thank you so much! :)
I am making a few updates to fix the issues, some was happening in the engine and others in the game itself. It is the first game made by my engine, to the feedbacks are super helpful, thank so much for taking your time to do so.
Soon most of these bugs will be fixed :)
The tension is there from the first second — the horror mood really works, and the torch fits the theme well. A few things I ran into:
- When a ghost found me, I couldn't tell how I was supposed to get away from it.
- The item you find at the start — I never figured out what it does.
- The splash sound when you fall in the water felt out of place against the mood you've built everywhere else.
- In fullscreen it stuttered quite a bit for me.
Small things against a game I thought was excellent overall.
Thank you so much for the feedback.
I made a few updates that has a beginning tutorial that explains the steps and each item (can be turned off at any moment).
Yeah, I thought that I removed that splash before the build, but it is still there, fixing it now.
I love the idea, and the Ferryman genuinely scared me the first time he showed up. I can really see this growing into a full indie horror game, the Japanese folklore setting is very interesting. The music is lovely too, though the rain or water ambience is a bit too loud for me and drowns it out.
A few technical notes, same in windowed and fullscreen:
These are all small fixes, and the atmosphere is already there. I’d love to see where you take it next. Great work! 🏮
Hello,
thank you so much for the feedback, I agree, I will tune down the ambience audio for the next fix.
The current version I fixed the delayed buttons (hopefully)
I will add the other fixes on the next versions. These are very helpful.
