Played for about 20 minutes on desktop. It's genuinely creepy, and the horror atmosphere works. That face got me :D
I found the key but didn't know what to do with it, and eventually ran out of matches. At first I also didn't understand why my day ended. A small hint about where the keys are (and what ends the day) would help, unless it's already in there and I missed it. No bugs that I noticed in my run.
I'd play it again to see how it ends. Was the key meant to be used somewhere close by, or further into the house?
Hi NEEDaFIX Thanks for playing and spending your precious time on my game. the day ended when gloam caught you, so try to hide from gloam. I think you should more explore the mansion properly because keys are used to open gadern gates and cellar doors. If you want some hints then search every drawers and find journals. it would lead to next clue. I hope you again try the game and complete it, tell me which ending do you get in the comments, And rate the game. :)))
Thanks for the explanation! It helps me understand it better. I didn't realise it was the Gloam that ended the day, so next time I'll explore more and check the drawers.
One question: can the Gloam catch you while your torch is lit, or only when it's out? A few times I got close to it and only my torch went out. The day didn't end and I got away.
Yes, day ended when gloam catches you, Firstly it blows off your torch then keep following you to kill you. If you feeling lucky that you donot dies by gloam then try to play game in nightmare difficulty then gloam will tear your character apart hahaha >:))) .. In normal diificulty gloam is slow so you get escape easily from it.
Ha, so that's what happened, the Gloam blew my torch out and I just got lucky escaping on normal. Nightmare sounds brutal, I'll try normal properly first and look for the journals. I'll let you know which ending I get!
:)
The lighting sells it: the torch flicker, the vignette and the dust in the air make the manor feel close without going murky. The touch controls are also a real port, not an afterthought. The joystick cleans up on pointerup/pointercancel/lostpointercapture, and pointer lock is skipped on touch.
Three things I found on the web build:
1. Keys can get stuck after alt-tab. Keyboard state only resets on keyup (const K={} plus the keydown/keyup listeners), and there's no blur or visibilitychange handler. If you hold W, alt-tab, and let go while the browser isn't focused, the browser never gets that keyup. Coming back, the character keeps walking until you press and release W again. In my test the character walked into a hallway wall on its own. One line fixes it: addEventListener('blur', () => { for (const k in K) K[k] = 0; }).
2. The Gloam's audio never plays. 'starting sound.mp3' and 'second sound.mp3' return 404 from the build root. Your error handler catches it, so nothing crashes, but the chase cue is silent. I think the two files didn't make it into the uploaded zip.
3. On a phone-sized portrait screen (412 px wide, emulated), the MAP / MUSIC / PAUSE buttons sit on top of the Day / Difficulty / Keys panel, because #touchUtility and #q are both pinned top-right. Moving #q down when touch controls are showing would clear it.
