My ants walked like they were being dragged across a table, and nobody noticed for months.

Every bug in the game did it: four legs up at once, then the two in the middle. Wrong. An ant keeps three feet on the floor and three in the air, and the three on the floor make a triangle. Front and back on one side, middle on the other. That triangle is why an ant can stop mid-step and change its mind.

Two ants from above. In each, three legs are drawn solid with a dot on the ground and a green triangle between the dots; the other three are dotted, up in the air, and the two sets swap between the panels.

### The legs that hung in the air

Bugs stand with half their legs over a cliff, because they can. Those legs used to dangle in nothing.

Now a leg reaching out over a drop pulls itself back until it finds ground, so the foot lands on the edge. With nothing under it at all, it turns down and grabs the rock face. That's a wolf spider on a corner of the cliff, one foot hooked over the side.

Before: legs over the edge hang in the air. After: they draw in onto the edge.

### Legs that feel the wall

A leg is almost as long as the bug, so by a doorway or a tree it used to go straight through the wall. Now each leg checks the spot its foot will land a fifth of a second from now, and pulls in when something too steep to climb is in the way. Fast in, slow out: it jerks back from a wall, then reaches out again carefully. That little unevenness is most of why the bugs look alive.

Before: at the corner, three legs in the air. After: they hold the cliff face.

Cordyceps grows on the tamed bug, as we can see in the pictures.
