It would be nice if there was some calm music in the background. Potentially even having different tracks for the different areas.

I feel like the level progression could use some work. The last two levels of the hatchery were the only ones that I had troubles with. Those felt like a jump up in difficulty compared to progression of all of the other levels.

I think that the Commons could use some work. Once you figure out who likes who and that happy cheers up grumpy it is mostly just the same thing but with more blobs. Potentially having more colors and more moods, so that it keeps the same concept but remains more interesting.

Overall the Nursery and the Reef felt pretty good, although they were all mostly easy. The one thing that I felt kind of sad about was that in the Reef you could not feed all of the creatures, and so some would still be hungry at the end of the level. :(

I found being able to play with the physics to be fun. That made me think that you could potentially make a set of levels that use physics.

Overall this game seems pretty good and I look forward to seeing it come to Steam.

Is it fun?

I would say yes! Since this is a puzzle game it does need more complex puzzles to hold my log term interest in it.

Are the rules clear?

Very! You have many small polish elements like when blobs are near each other they change facial expressions, after eating their expressions change and so on. All this make your games onboarding absolutely amazing.

Is it too easy?

A bit too easy yes. This makes me wonder if complex puzzles are even possible in this format. (I know they are but this was s thought while playing so I am sharing it here)

Did you get stuck?

No. Only had to press undo button twice.

What I enjoyed

  • The little bits of polish around the game are great! Changes in expressions, idle animations, eyes following mouse, amazing stuff.

  • The onboarding is fantastic. No complaints whatsoever.

  • I like how easy the initial puzzles are. They introduce mechanics and I appreciate that/

  • Like that you have given a key of sorts to see what transforms into what. That also shows how many unique mechanics and content there is in the game.

What I would like to see improved

  • The difficulty of the puzzles never goes up. Easy puzzles at the start is understandable. But later you do need to give a challenge so the players are like “Alright, let me beat this challenge”.

  • The UI is too small in fullscreen.

Thats about it from my end.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Puzzle games are some of my favorite types of games, and I'll often play them when I need to unwind and relax. I had a lot of fun with this one.

The rules were clear and easy to understand. The blobs were easy to pick up and place where I wanted to. I liked how you slowly unlocked the rules as you played, letting the players figure out how the blobs interact with each other by playing. The Notebook was very handy to be able to double check how different things worked together. I also really liked that instead of just showing the first combination I got, it showed multiple combinations. There were times I made combinations that I knew wouldn't help solve the puzzle just to add another one to my Notebook.

The level progression felt good. The Hatchery, in particular, did a good job of introducing new concepts and challenges, though I think they all worked well. The Hatchery was the world I most often had to stop, think, and experiment to solve some of the levels. I liked how you sometimes included things that weren't needed to solve the puzzle. The Commons was the easiest of the worlds. Once I got the basic concept down, it was a lot of just doing the same thing over and over. You may want to think of ways to add more to the Commons, as it was overall less interesting than the other three worlds. The Nursery and Reef both had some really cool ideas and were fun to solve.

The blobs are super cute. I liked how the blobs in each world had a different look and feel to them. It helped make each world feel unique beyond just the puzzle solving mechanics. The blobs in the Reef were particularly fun to me. They remained me of underwater creatures, which really fit with how they interacted with each other. I liked the way the blobs would interact with each other when they were at the bottom. The little hearts when you placed two happy blobs that got along next to each other was delightful, and the disapproving look when you placed two blobs that didn't was a nice touch. The interactions in the Reef were great as well. It was sometimes fun to move the blobs around to see at the bottom just to play with that.

I really liked that you included a Light and Dark themes. I played all the levels using the Dark theme, as I tend to prefer that look. I also did a few of the levels using the Light theme, just to see how things looked. Everything was clear and easy to read, see, and understand on both themes, and it doesn't feel like the game favors either option.

The SFX were cute and worked well. I liked that each space you could put a blob into had a different sound. I would sometimes play with the order I put the blobs in to make different sound combinations. I'm torn on whether or not I think the game could be improved with the addition of background music. On the one hand, it is a little quiet when you aren't actively interacting with the blobs. On the other, it allowed the SFX to stand out a bit more. I think it you were to add music, it should be something fairly calm and quiet, and should have the option to adjust its volume, including muting it, separate from the SFX volume.

Overall, I really enjoyed playing this and plan to wishlist it on Steam when I can.

I had a lot of fun with this, not usually into puzzle games but I feel like this was really approachable. Visuals look good and are a lot of fun. I liked how the eyes on the Blobbi's would follow the mouse cursor with their eyes. Puzzles were challenging enough that is took me a few tries but none were so hard that I felt overwhelmed. Some background music would really help the feel of the game, it is very quiet without it. Some relaxed upbeat music would really help. Also don't know how hard it would be too incorporate but incorporating the physics into the puzzle solving would be a lot of fun. I kept randomly just throwing the balls around for fun and even being able to throw them into the slots would be a lot of fun. Could even be used for some levels where you must throw them into place. Really, really good start, like where it is at, great job.

This is a neat little puzzle game. The basics are pretty easy to pick up by playing, and it is nice to have the notebook to get more details for the things that are not immediately clear.

The game started out at a good progression, teaching the basics well. The difficulty ramped up at a good pace for most of The Hatchery, though some of the middle felt a bit easy.

The Commons had a neat concept, but once you learned how the happiness worked by color, the rest of the levels felt repetitive and just added more steps to complete the same thing you already did. That area needs to have something else added to make later levels feel more challenging and make you think.

It took me a couple tries to realize that the hatchlings grow up in The Nursery's final level. I tried to just do all the combos to start and then fill in the Cradle. I felt that all the other levels of the Nursery were fairly easy and obvious.

In The Reef I like how the one that would be eaten shakes when the threat is nearby. Only one level gave me pause when I thought I had to do it in 1 step before realizing it could be done in 2 and the other spots could be filled with a blob that does not change.

I was able to get 3 stars in all the levels. There were a few that I had to try several times to figure out, often due to an oversight on my part, but overall they were pretty straightforward once you learned the rules. I think The Commons needs work, but the others are a good starting point. There were several points in the other levels that things felt like they might be too repetitive and obvious, so be mindful of that as you design later levels. They will need to progressively get more challenging and keep players thinking to solve them.

This is  quite a fun litle puzzle game! Blobs interactions are well polished. The sound effects are also very cute and has different tones when the blobs interact. The game lacks a background music playing (the only needed improvement that I can point of), but it doesn't feel like it need one anyway. The flow of the puzzle (ramping difficulty and variety), visual polish, and sound effects are enough to engage me through all the levels.

I am not a big puzzle gamer, and I find the controls and rules very intuitive, so good job on the on-boarding. Overall, I completed all the demo levels in under 30 min. I didn't get stuck per se, but spent an embarrassingly long time on the second last level of the reef.

Regarding on the feelings that I get from interacting with the blobs... I can only describe what I felt while playing. Please don't take it as any suggestion to change.

It's weird... some of the blobs give me some eerie feelings. They look cute and repulsive at the same time. The ones I find cute are those in The Common (the angry/happy levels).  For the repulsive ones, it is The Reef level blobs where they have appendages around them. They definitely feel like virus or one-celled-bacteria trying to eat each other. Those are more on the repulsive side than cute. I was also taken aback when presented with the three-eyed blobs near the start of the game. If this eerie feeling between cute/repulsive is what you're aiming for, you did a pretty good job.

Overall, this is a good little puzzle game! It scratches the simple problem-solving itch while also eliciting some emotions. I would definitely see these kinds of games being played inside a commuter train or waiting for your turn at the dentist' office. Good job!
