Design Statement
When listening to the theme track, I imagined being lost in the vastness of space. The music gave me a sense of adventure and movement, but also unpredictability, which inspired me to create a game set in a dangerous and chaotic universe. I wanted the player to feel like they were navigating through space, surrounded by objects they needed to avoid and mysterious objects they could collect.

This inspired Nebula Nuggets, a fast-paced arcade survival game where the player must collect 80 orange nuggets while dodging deadly asteroids. I chose a colourful space aesthetic to capture the feeling of exploring a galaxy, with different coloured spheres adding unexpected twists to the experience.

Each sphere has a unique effect, with some helping the player and others making survival more difficult. I also wanted the gameplay to become increasingly intense, so asteroids spawn more frequently and move faster as the player's score increases.

My aim was to turn the atmosphere and feeling of the music into an exciting space adventure that is simple to understand but challenging to complete.

How to Launch

Left click on play game, when you click on the screen it will launch full screen.

Controls

Hold the left mouse button and move your cursor to control your ship

Optional Controls

Press R during gameplay to return to the main menu.
Press R at the main menu to reset your saved high score.

How to Play

Your objective is to collect 80 orange Nebula Nuggets to win!

Avoid the dangerous grey asteroids. You only have one life, so stay alert and keep moving.

Look out for the four coloured spheres drifting through space:

Green Sphere: Temporarily doubles your points.
Blue Sphere: Grants temporary invincibility.
Red Sphere: Stops your movement, leaving you vulnerable.
Purple Sphere: Pulls you away.

As your score increases, the game becomes progressively harder. Asteroids spawn more frequently and move faster, making survival increasingly challenging.

Your best score is saved, allowing you to keep trying to beat your personal record until you can beat the game.

Objective: Collect 80 Nebula Nuggets and survive the chaos of space!
