wuagh cool! love the painterly style, i think my favourite part is the transition from the rooftops to the open sky, you get to get a good look at the clouds that way and the vibes are great

Design Statement
We wanted to match the escapism and dreamlike wonder the team felt when listening to the theme track. We took inspiration from exploration and puzzle games that gave us a similar feeling, like ‘A Hat in Time,’ ‘Omno,’ and ‘Sky’ (Hello), by using a hand-crafted, painterly, low-poly 3D style. When approaching the painting, architecture, and environment, our illustrator took Inspiration from russian art and motifs of the stars as a way of keeping the style loose, airy, and dreamy like that of a storybook rather than a high fantasy. When discussing themes that we would like to communicate, we wanted to touch on disability and the feeling of needing accommodations, something many in our team have needed, which is the reason why the prince can’t fly like the other beasts. Concerning animation, each of the beasts and the prince has a distinct personality, and their animations try to reflect them, specifically in the idle positions. On the side of programming, our coders took mechanics and movement inspiration from games like Split Fiction and designed the puzzles to emulate a low-stress, self-paced, cozy environment.
All of our assets, BGs, Characters, Textures, animations, etc., are made by hand by artists, no AI.
