I Really liked the line: If theres one thing they knew, it was how to scurry.
Great game. I got fallout vibes from the sneaking mechanic. Liked that you told us out times and the timer itself added to the feeling. Also idk if you made the music but it was really good for your scenario and was v natural. Good job man.
SPOILERS: I liked that I could return to a spot of hiding even after being spotted. Also I felt really creative for taking the above route even though that was probably the main route. Good design there.
Awesome. Here's a link to my game: https://n8python.itch.io/apollo-x
Off bat opening ur game gave me Happy Wheels vibes thanks sm for that lol. I had a lot of fun w it and I rly felt powerful the first few levels. When I hit level 3 I hit a wall and it took me 7 tries before realizing that I needed to go to the shop. You already know I bought the laser lance lol.
I within my first contact hit a guys hand instantly disarming him which was so sick.
Great job w this man. I seriously think you should consider making this an full .io game bc it def has that fun gameplay but also ur ai was really good too.
Thank you very much! In retrospect, I probably should have made the shop more visible lol.
Glad you liked the locational damage system!
There is a primitive multiplayer game that I worked on that uses the same-ish combat system here: https://boomba-zoomba.herokuapp.com/
Glad you liked the AI - worked really hard on it.
Maybe I'll make it into an io game at some point. Need enough players first tho. Maybe if this game gets enough attention.
In this file (https://github.com/N8python/apolloX/blob/master/scripts/person.js), there is a takeDamage function that explains the exact methodolgy.
Damage is based off of angular velocity, and is updated every game loop. So an initial hit (high angular velocity) will deal a lot more damage then just resting your weapon on the enemy (low angular velocity).
Here ya go, I'll rate yours as well now :) EDIT: Getting a JNI error, but I'm on my work laptop, will give this a go when I'm home :)
UPDATE: Ok, good now. I posted what worked for me w/ the Java bit on the game page. I think just fresh Java runtime AND SDK do the trick.
Rate Moon Jump by Holonet, yousayrandy for Game Off 2020 - itch.io
Got VVVVV vibes. I like that I understood the mechanics completely by around level 2 but I still had moments of being surprised when I realized "oh I need to go back for air first".
Very clever mechanics. Good call on clarifying that I can moon jump in air since it was pretty important later on.
Great game dude and I like that you introduced mechanics in slowly. You very much have a the skills for level design and it shows.

I hope you enjoy it.
Someone mentioned that it doesn't have anything to do with the theme.
The idea was escaping prison from the enemy castle is thought to be a moonshot of a plan... but I guess that doesn't stick for everyone.
If you dont mind checking it out. Definitely will be checking yours out as well.

Ay here's my game. The theme fit should be obvious (shooting and landing at the moon?). I soloed it and wasn't able to put in everything I wanted but having all the art be my own was satisfying. /jam/game-off-2020/rate/840095 I'll definitely check out all of your games!
a browser version is up, but for some reason the browser version has way more bugs than the downloadable version
I have downloadable versions for windows, mac, and linux
Made it to the final wave you know how it b. The blue guys r nasty. Can't tell if they were tryiggered by me buying the final upgrades or just from the wave progressing. Either way a ton of fun. I felt like I was playing a ranged build in Terraria so amazing job w the shooting.
Outstanding first game engine project dude v fun gameplay.
There was a small learning curve but afterwards I really enjoyed the game. I tried level 2 4 times and kept losing so I went to 3 and beat that and went back to 2 and beat the game. I like that you gave us that option but let us choose the order.
Music was good and I liked that the player animation was always stepping to the beat of the music. I don't know if that was intentional or not. but it was neat. I did only end up really using the first spell. I liked that it felt like 'reloading' was a real thing you had to do but once you learned how to do it you really felt powerful.
I did however use the shield spell on the dummy and pushed him around lol.
My only criticism would be to remove mana penalties on failures to click the pointer on time because it felt like there were already enough penalties in the act of recharging your weapon anyways (change of focus, reduced speed).
Over all I really liked it and I beat all 3 levels. Great job man.
Thanks so much hahaha. I had to make the file size large to make it so its less work for you guys during installation. Anyone reading this: trust me the extra seconds to download are a huge timesave in comparison to a smaller download but multistop installation.
Current version lets you download, and then play.
Thanks for doing this. I'll return the favor soon. https://dakotahall.itch.io/monmon My comments will be on your game's page though.
This is day 2 of my playing every game here.
It took me 4 hours but I fixed the download because people where having trouble with it yesterday. Now just download and play. No extra steps.
Heres my game: https://jello3899.itch.io/glass-tombs

I like the open world you created. Held off on rating because I got stuck/ Hopefully you can help me out so I can revisit.
Possible spoilers:
I went to the landing site and stole the space suit. I didn't want to stick around because I didn't want to get caught there again. I found a farmer which was cool.
Hi! I'd really appreciate your feedback. :) Here's the game I made with my sister: Moonster Shoot! by mcronnie-dev, zxsarah (itch.io)

So cool that you made a coop game. I played this one with my Dad because of it. It reminded us of the walking dead. He doesn't play that many games so we didn't make it that far but we both liked the graphics a lot. Great job.
The effects when you are shooting the gun are so cool! How did you guys create the environment?
Thanks a lot, Angelo!! Great to hear that you played the game with your dad!! :-)
I used some assets from the assets store from Unity because I'm not a 3D artist in any way and those assets were available a long time in my storage. You can find a detailed list of the used assets on the project page. Besides of that, the environment was made with those assets completely in Unity.
Hey! Would love to hear what you think of our game: /jam/game-off-2020/rate/837558
It's a small decision-based puzzle rpg where you play a Bio-Engineer in a lunar colony!

THIS COMMENT HAS SPOILERS. DONT READ UNLESS YOU HAVE BEATEN THE GAME
Writing was very good. First playthrough took around 50 min. Def recommend and would play again. I can tell you put a ton of time into it.
My game was also a story focused game with 3 chapters. You should check it out I would love to know what you think of it.
Thanks so much for the positive feedback! Was really nice to hear it! If you want you can play again and make different decision, see what ending you get ;)
I just finished playing your game too! It's really nice - I especially loved the graphics and audio! Also really cool that you managed to make it procedurally generated. I do agree with some other people that the character moves too fast but that's very minor of course. It was a lot of fun to play!
You are the last game of the thread at the moment! Sorry it took so long I wanted to play every single one and give v meaningful credit.

Probably shouldn't have picked easy as a frequent player of FPS's. Would get a few hits on myself by being a little carless in the beginning. Then once those yellow dudes started spawning the difficulty picked up which was rly great. Took me a minute to figure out that the enemies planets are labeled but I noticed it and it helped me play a lot faster which was great.
My coolest moment was when there was an enemy on a far planet behind me but I saw his shadow projected in front of me so I turned around and killed it. Good job with the lighting for that!
The camera placement could have been a bit further out bc it would have helped a lot with finding out where the dudes are on the planet faster.
I was really impressed by your enemy variety because most jam games don't have the time to fit something like that in but you did a good job and each of them felt like a good addition.
Sadly, my life was ended by those fat yellow stars lmao. They are so terrifying up close hahah. If that was your intention with the close camera then great job with that haha
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Yeah I'm very happy you mentioned the difficulty picked up with the yellow blob spawns as that was the intention =). My friend mentioned the camera as well, for a post Jam build I'm going to make the camera distance scrollable and allow resolution / audio settings adjustment. Good stuff, excited to play your game later tonight or tomorrow! (lots of games on my own thread to get too haha)
