As usual the mac version of the game has it's progress reset whenever updated.

What do you mean with "progress reset"?
If you downloaded the full new game version, you need to move the save files from the Game.app\Contents\Resources\app.nw\save folder from the old version to the new version.
The "Update files only".zip were made for the windows version. Since I don't have a Mac, I can't test if or how well they work with the Mac version.

I am also on a mac. I downloaded it today but lower the music and when i die it resets all my progress. Because autosave doesn't work and I can't find a save area. Great game tho it is a lot of fun.
