Hi!
Please feel free to post your requests in this thread!
Can't find a pack you need? Make a request here! · By
I bought two of your GUIs, which look lovely, but I can't really use much of them, because the GUI screens on Renpy are rather different than the ones for Tyrano Builder. Do you think you could adapt, or make new ones, with Renpy in mind? It would be basically adding bars instead of dots, and the "Options" screen has slightly different labels.
Thank you so much in advance!
I see! I've downloaded some sample GUI packs for Renpy and now, I'm learning, how it all works. It's really different from TyranoBuilder. I'll keep you updated on the progress. Hopefully, it won't take too much time!
By the way, a long time ago (half a year or something), I've played your game "Blood and Lust"! It was great. I hope to play your other games in the future, as well! Your drawing skills are really impressive, I wish I could draw such beautiful sprites! *-*
Hi!
I'm attaching a download key for the beta version of the RenPy Dark Pink GUI Pack.
https://rachelchen.itch.io/dark-pink-visual-novel-gui-text-interface-buttons-and...
I'm sorry it took so long! I had to learn how this type of GUI looks like. It is very different from the one used in TyranoBuilder. This version looks a bit different than what you've bought, because, I had to remake some buttons (I fixed backgrounds as well). Please let me know if it works, and if yes, I'll proceed to create the RenPy version of the Royal Blue GUI Pack.
Have a great Sunday!
Rachel
Hi Rachel,
I recently launched a new visual novel engine, https://talefab.com/, and I'd like to add a media repository to it. Therefore I'm in search for backgrounds, GUIs, etc. My question is: if I buy your packs, can I add them to this media repository?
I need to mention that users register and use the repository for free, and the created games are published inside the project (https://talefab.com/games/), therefore the repository's content is not distributed or sold to 3rd parties. This will be included in the Terms & Conditions also, and creators will be credited too (I know it's not required, but still).
You can find out more about the engine on it's itch page:
https://szabo-sandor-istvan.itch.io/talefab-visual-novel-engine
Hi, Sandor!
First of all, congratulations on your visual novel engine! It looks super awesome.
Regarding your inquiry, it's a complicated issue.
When you put graphical assets in your engine's files (or release them on your website), to let others use them creatively, this is sharing with third parties. Unfortunately, it can't be done with the single user's licence.
However, I can create graphical assets especially for your engine, and sell them to you with all rights. In this scenario, you could share these assets, as you'd be the sole owner of all rights to them.
Let me know if it's something you'd be interested in.
Rachel
That would be nice!
Can we get in touch for a chat?
You can find me on our FB Community Hub, let's discuss this further.
Hi, Devi!
Thank you for your message!
A long time ago, I have already created such a pack (click here to see it), however, it needs to be divided in half, because, backgrounds don't match each other (one is an old, grunge elementary school and the other, a beautiful modern college). I hope to divide this pack in a couple of days so that people can download only the part that they need. You may also want to check the art gallery pack, I think, some backgrounds would work too if your characters have art class or if you need some modern-looking corridor.
I'm hoping to release new school-related backgrounds soon, with a more modern-looking high school. Some of them will be made free after the requester's purchase, so, I will keep you updated about this. *^-^*
Rachel
Hi, thank you for your request!
I'm sorry to be responding so late, the past days were quite hectic.
As for the backgrounds, I have a couple of questions about the room: should it be a boy's room or a girl's room? A student's room or an adult's room? Do you have any specific expectations regarding colors? Should the room be cluttered and dark, or more minimalistic and bright? As for the corridor, you need something that works with the house pool area, yeah? Or something different? And as for the pool, you need a background with a simple, private, indoor pool, yeah? I had a photo somewhere, I'll look for it. In general though, it would be best if you could go on Unsplash.com or Pexels.com, find photos that work best for you, and send links to me.
Also, by TOD you mean time of the day, yeah?
Thank you,
Rachel
hey there, thank you for the reply..
As for the room, it will generic guest room that can go well with your other rooms in the packs I got - I am currently using your pack 9 and Tropical Resort packs as a home / house. As for the room decorations, clutter and such - I don't mind multiple rooms with varrying degrees of clutter and decorations as long as they all come with different Time of Day (yea on TOD). Morning, Afternoon, Evening - same as the ones in your pack 9
The corridors, yes, a corridor that leads to the pool area.
The pool area, I guess that can be ignored now since the pool area that came with your Tropical Resort pack is great and I like the feel of it.
There is an image included in the Tropical Resort pack, I believe its TropicalResort(8), can I also request an afternoon and evening version of it?
I'm gonna be raiding your packs again for something I need and will let you know if ever I will need more..
Hi Rachel, I'm looking for more of a specialized order. I've bought a few of your packs already, but I'm hoping I could talk to you directly about getting a few specific backgrounds made as a commission. Is there anyway to speak to you directly? You Twitter isn't allowing for direct messages, so this forum thread is all I have to go off of.
If you would be interested in setting something like this up, please reach out to me on Twitter at @neliobelmont. I'm also on Instagram @pixel_fusion_portraits, facebook @PixelFusionPortraits
Hi Rachel, love your work :) I was hoping to request a cyberpunk/futuristic city locations background pack - think neon lit bars, grungy alleyways, seedy nightclubs, megacorp offices, hyperloop stations, robot markets...that sort of thing. I'm looking to create a game and would need around 20 unique locations.
Many thanks!
Hi, Gabby!
Thank you for your message! Unfortunately, I'm not planning to make more RenPy conversions at this time. :( I have very little experience with this engine, I hoped to learn it, but now, I started working with an indie game studio, and as a result, I'm super busy. I'll keep you updated though, if anything changes!
I wish you much luck with your game projects!
Rachel
Hi, thank you so much for your purchase! ^-^
I was planning to make an amusement park pack for quite a while already, and here it is!
https://rachelchen.itch.io/amusement-park-pack-10-visual-novel-backgrounds
I’ll try to add a zoo pack in the upcoming days.
Good luck with your games!
Rachel
Hi Rachel, really like the style of your backgrounds. Between your packs, I have pretty much everything I need for my game, which is set in different rooms of a modern house.
The only thing I'm missing are exterior shots — curb view, front door, backyard of a modern house that matches the interior of the Modern Bedrooms and Contemporary Kitchens packs.
Is this something you could add?
Hi, thank you so much for your purchases! ^-^ Here are the neighborhood packs that I’ve made in the past two days, I think that the “Modern Neighborhood Pack” will be most suited to your needs. But I ’m sending the links to all three:
https://rachelchen.itch.io/modern-neighborhood-pack-8-visual-novel-backgrounds
https://rachelchen.itch.io/elegant-neighborhood-pack-14-visual-novel-backgrounds
https://rachelchen.itch.io/red-brick-neighborhood-pack-6-visual-novel-backgrounds
Hopefully they’ll be useful for you. Have a great weekend! Rachel
Hi Keruberus! I’m sorry for such a late response, I’ve been offline for quite a while. Thank you for your kind words! I remember, I made some backgrounds with restaurants and cafes, but they were scattered around different packs. I’m gathering the links for you:
Ice cream shop: https://rachelchen.itch.io/ice-cream-shop-mini-pack-4-visual-novel-backgrounds
Cafe, night bar restaurant, wedding restaurant: /queue/c/546327/rachel-chens-classical-visual-novel-backgrounds?game_id=558937
Cake display and cafe corner with seats: https://rachelchen.itch.io/exclusive-shopping-mall-pack-10-visual-novel-backgrounds
I hope to create new packs, though, and upload them soon. Thank you for your suggestion! Have a great weekend, Rachel
Hi 1LookGames, thank you for your request! I see what you mean with the perspective, good point. The School & College Pack is quite old actually, one of the first packs ever made. I’m hoping to create a new version, and will take these remarks into consideration. By the way, if you see this problem with other packs too, please let me know. I’ll see if I can make new versions. Have a great weekend! Rachel
Hi Anwynn, Thank you so much for your message! Providing photos when requesting backgrounds is optional. You can attach some as a reference, but it’s not necessary. What kind of beach backgrounds do you need? I don’t mind making more of these, the sea is one of my favorite themes! ^-^ Have a great week, Rachel
hi Rachel :)
something like this

and this

and this

i though also one that show beach cabin? is that the right word for those small house where you change into swimming clothes
maybe one that is close to the water too
i thought if they could have day/sunset , can those be found without people on it ? though one or two is not really a problem
theses are beach photos from my country i searched on internet :) i'm bad at searching things on internet there might be better ones
i like these breakwater :)
i hope it's not too difficult what i'm asking :)
thank you :)
Hi, thank you for asking about this. Unfortunately, my answer is a big NO, I can’t allow this type of use. My assets were created with the goal of becoming part of more complex creative projects (such as visual novels, digital comics, etc.), and not to be used as components for the creation of other people’s digital assets meant for further sale and distribution. This type of use not only shares parts of my work with third parties, but also serves competitive purposes. So no, I definitely can’t agree to it. Moreover, since the crypto market has its own rules regarding digital copies, I don’t agree for my assets (or any derivative works based on my assets) to be sold/traded/distributed there. You’ll have to look for another artist to help you with this request, I’m afraid. Sorry. Rachel
Hi Rachel! Thanks for your response. I understand if you thought I was trying to sell the backgrounds themselves as NFTs but let me give you an example of how they would be used. Our anime girls would be the main focal point and the background would be to complement them. I loved your backgrounds and thought they would be a great addition. It seemed like fair use as a commercial project and we would credit you too but if you're still not comfortable then we won't do it. Thanks Rachel!

Hi Anwynn! I finally made these backgrounds, sorry it took so long. I’ve added them to the original Picturesque Seaside Town Pack, so you can download them here: https://rachelchen.itch.io/picturesque-seaside-town-pack-14-visual-novel-backgrounds, the file is “RC_PicturesqueSeasideTown(OldVersion-Nights).rar” ; I chose not to add them to any new pack because, I feel that the originals are very old, and not that good. So, you’re getting the night versions of these, for free! Regarding the night versions of the revamped backgrounds, I started working on them, but they’re quite time consuming, and I didn’t want to keep you waiting more, if you only need the old ones. In any case, I’ll probably add them some day. Take care! -Rachel
Hi Rachel,
Absolutely love your assets! I am currently looking for a Tyranobuilder GUI that has a more underwater feel. I think your current sea GUI is gorgeous, but I am looking for something a bit darker with an underwater theme. My game is set in a magic academy on an island, but there is a lot of emphasis on the sea, especially underwater. I haven't brought any of your GUIs yet (but I have brought some of your amazing backgrounds!) and I was wondering if I would be able to edit the text on them and if we are allowed to make changes to them.
Thank you, and all the best!
Hi Sailing Ocelot! Thank you so much for your kind words, and for all the purchases, as well! ^-^ I’m glad you like these assets. All GUI elements are PNGs, so the text on them isn’t editable, unfortunately. However, I’ll keep in mind to add text-free versions of all buttons to all future packs, and add links to fonts used, as well. I’ll also try to make a new GUI pack that fits your needs, if you have any special requirements regarding colors, or elements that you’d like to appear on it, please share! And sure, you can always edit backgrounds and GUI elements to make them fit better your visual novel games. Have a great Sunday! Rachel
Hi Rachel, thank you for your response! I am delighted that you'll consider adding text-free versions of the buttons, I think this could benefit a lot of people! The colours I'm looking for are blues, greens and teal, with a strong emphasis on being underwater. My visual novel is actually a science-fantasy. There's technology such a holograms in this world. A mix of tech and water would be *seriously* cool.
With editing, it's always easier if the assets can be loaded via Photoshop or something, to make minor placement adjustments, etc. Just an idea!
Thanks again Rachel, can't wait to see what you'll do!
Hi SailingOcelot, Thank you for your message! And sorry for the late response, work matters kept me quite busy. I hope to post some new GUI packs by the end of this week, among them, the one you’ve requested.
As for Photoshop versions with editable elements, it unfortunately won’t be possible. :( First, I don’t even have Photoshop, and second, licences. I can use vectors commercially only if they make part of some larger final composition (in this case, an original game button), but can’t resell them as stand-alones.
Still, I’ll remember to add blank buttons without captions. I’ll also consider creating extra elements that can be combined together for decoration purposes, etc. Thank you for the suggestion! ^-^
Have a great Sunday! -Rachel
