I'm hoping that future releases of this game aren't Install only, and are in Zip/Rar file

I mean I'm liking the idea of the game, I am admittedly not quite comfortable just straight up installing things like this onto my computer despite the fact I can consider this site trustworthy.

No problem, but standalone version requires manual install of some essential software to run the game like microsoft visual c++.
