Nice job! I really liked the way that the ghosts and the skulls worked together, forcing you too keep it close to see where you're going, but keep it on the ghosts at the same time so that they don't kill you! It was a lot of fun, if a bit easy, but the art looked great and the feeling of tension was very enjoyable. Well done!

Great game, it actually is quite similar to a bigger game I'm currently working on (because of the "only one light" theme). I liked the design, definitely has some potench. Maybe you can click the ghost to destroy them but that consumes your light a little (and need to find another source of light to replenish), because at one point I was completely surrounded by ghosts and couldn't do anything but die, so this is just one suggestion.
While the game is really original and really fits the theme, I'll lower my rating on the design aspect for a few reasons.
The ghosts are supposed to be your main concern, since it's supposed to distract yourself from the spike and having to juggle between the two obstacles. However, since the ghosts are slow, they are not a real threat : even then, simply walking holding the torch perfectly protects you from ghosts, as the hallways are almost always big enough for you to pass through and the fact that ghosts cannot approach you while holding the torch. The game is then about seeking your path through the darkness and avoiding spikes.
The concept is really good, but the ghost mechanic should be remade differently to better fit your really good ideas! Good game overall, but I'd like to see it in a different approach.
This was fun to play!
We made a similar game about lights but this is so completely different!
I like that you need to stun the ghosts but also need to bring your light back so you don't accidentally walk into spikes.
Good job guys I'd love to see more of this!

This is our GMTK game. Check it out!
This is really nice! The graphics especially are top-notch. My only real criticism is that it's a bit easy. I think it would have been really cool to have ghosts that moved a bit more quickly, so you were forced to balance between looking forward and seeing where you're going and keeping the ghosts stunned. As-is, the ghosts are basically never a threat. I also think some good dungeon-ey music would have improved the overall ambiance a LOT. That said, this is a really cool idea and definitely is worth exploring/expanding a bit!
I could see this game being polished up to be a real winner! The concept of using your light to stun gave me some Luigi's Mansion vibes and I was digging it! You could almost convert the point light to maybe a light beam from a flashlight or something to really make a cool weapon type ability out of it! I'd love to see a full version with more enemies, traps etc. Great game!
Fun little game. Controls well, has cool dual-purpose-design mechanics, and has fantastic spritework. Wish there was music! Nice work.
Fun game overall. I feel like binding the torch to the mouse makes for some interesting risk/reward mechanics about wanting to keep the skeletons far away/learn the level layout more, vs avoiding the spikes that might be right in front of you
The art is really really good, but the game over all i felt like after 2 or 3 levels, i wasn't getting anything new, maybe it needed some extra features to keep the gameplay fres
Loved the artwork in this and I do love myself a game based around light/vision. I wonder if a bit more light might work well? Maybe the torch light could light little fires where it lands that last for a little while to allow you to 'scout'? That's my only real issue, apart from that - great!
Yeah, it would have been better if could have done live commentary over the video but unfortunately I'm having a health issue after the Jam that makes it difficult to talk :c But I should try to in the future, if it doesn't hurt as much later in the week.
As for feedback, I didn't give any because I couldn't think of anything to critique. :) I have seen this type of mechanic before, but I thought your game executed it brilliantly. There was no bugs, the visual design was great and was the perfect length. The game was intuitive and your tutorial told me everything I needed to know.
If I was do push myself for something, it would be that if it was any longer, I'd probably have wanted something more. Like a new mechanic on top that would synergise well with the light/dark mechanic to keep me engaged.
But I think it was the perfect length for what was there, so I really don't have any complaints :)
Sorry, that's probably not what you want to hear :/
If I have time after I've played a bunch more games, I'll play your game again and try to be really critical xD
It was fun and its elements worked great together. Nice job. Check ours: https://cerosware.itch.io/one-stick-shooter
Very good execution of an awesome idea. This one is among my favourites!
I don't think the ghosts really posed much of a threat as my character would always be inside the light, making them ineffective. Maybe you could boost their speed to make it more difficult or rather slow them down in the light than completely stun them. Still I liked the concept. Well done!
Wow! Very responsive controls and crisp visuals. I wonder if it would be more fun if you couldn't see yourself when the light wasn't on you, making it a risk/reward thing? Great game either way!
so many people with the same idea as me 😭 Great game though its really good
