Actual PC version of C64 Dungeon?

Has anyone come across a native (non emulated) version of this game for the PC? Long ago when I played this game I did research including trying to find the author, but came up empty. What I did find was info that the C64 version was not the only version. The author planned to release or perhaps did release a version for PC compatible computers. I was never able to find much info on it, but hopefully the release of the game on itch.io might garner some new information from others.

Aah! It would be great to hear about that!

What information did you uncover? Is it online somewhere? It'd be nice to see, maybe I could dig something up? In particular I'm interested in the "IFC Systems" that presumably published this before LOADSTAR.

I'd have to look but if I recall (it was over a decade ago I looked into it) I believe I found the info about a PC version from searching the web. It wasn't from the LOADSTAR CD that Fender was selling. I'll try to see if I can find the bit of info that mentioned the PC version. I'll post a link here if I rediscover it.

I found this info during a quick search. The good part here is that we have the name of a co-author. Perhaps he can be tracked down.

Ah, that co-author listed is Jon Mattson. I don't think he was a co-creator, he made two of the adventures LOADSTAR published for Dungeon. He was a prolific LOADSTAR contributor and made several other programs for it, including one game system of his own. But Dungeon predates his time with LOADSTAR, I think.

I'd love to find Jon Mattson too, he made several nice games for LOADSTAR, but we don't know what happened to most contributors. Jon Mattson, Ian Adams, Barbara Schulak, J.C. Hilty, and now, David Caruso II.

Sorry to res this old thread, but I stumbled upon something tonight and wasn't sure if you had this info. I found an email address for David Caruso from 2000 or so. I'll paste it here.  caruso@efn.org. Hopefully you might be able to get in touch with him and see about the PC version which I'm guessing was never released or if he has a newer C64 version than was on Loadstar. Goodluck.

I may have stumbled upon some good info. Sorry again if you are no longer interested in this, but here goes. I searched the wayback machine for the year 2000 or so website and found it. I just started looking around and found a link to source code. If your interested, try the below link, otherwise go to Archive.org's Wyback Machine and enter this URL: http://www.efn.org/~dungeon/

The following URL is the link from the wayback machine.  https://web.archive.org/web/20060424045124/http://www.efn.org/~dungeon/  It appears the website was up / active until 2007 or so, but the last saved version is from April 24th, 2006 on the Wayback Machine.

There was a link to his personal webpage which is also gone from the live site, but on the archvied version is his resume with address and phone number. If your interested, here is the link: https://web.archive.org/web/20110208194608/http://www.efn.org/~caruso/

This might be his current email address: dcaruso3@wi.rr.com.

Hope this might be useful. I still hope to one day see the PC version or a C64 version with fixes.
