7 DAYS. ONE BOSS. ONE FIGHT.
Have you ever fought a boss so incredible that it stayed in your head for years?
Now it's your turn to create one.
The Boss Fight Jam, hosted by Grable Studio, is a game jam where the idea is simple:
Create a boss fight that is fun, creative, incredible, or simply unforgettable.
It can be epic. It can be strange. It can be terrifying. It can be hilarious.
There's only one rule that really matters:
For 7 days, create a small experience focused on one thing:
Your game needs:
Everything else is up to you.
Want to add a cutscene before the fight? Go for it.
Want to create an absurdly good soundtrack? YES.
Want to tell an entire story through the boss? Do it.
Want the boss to transform three times? Make it happen.
Want to create something completely bizarre that nobody expected?
Please do.
The goal is to put as much creativity as possible into a single boss fight.
The majority of your game should be created during the 7 days of the Boss Fight Jam.
You may use code or systems you created before the jam.
You may use assets created before the jam or obtained from other sources, as long as you have the necessary rights or permission to use them.
Unity, Unreal, Godot, GameMaker, RPG Maker, your own engine...
Use whatever you want.
PC, Web, Linux, console, mobile...
As long as your game can be played and evaluated, it's valid.
Your submission can be commercial or free.
Generative AI tools may be used for:
However, the main content of your submission must be created during the jam.
Generative AI must not be used to create the final art, music, or other final assets for your game.
Both!
You can participate:
One person. One boss. One fight.
Gather your friends, form a team, and create something together.
It doesn't matter if you're working alone in your room or with an entire team:
we want to see your boss.

Only participants who submitted a game to the jam can vote.
Voting is only available to people who submitted a game to the jam.
Each submission can be evaluated in the following categories:
How does the boss fight work?
Do the attacks, patterns, mechanics, and design decisions make the fight interesting?
Is the boss original?
Does the fight have an idea that makes you think:
"WOW, THAT'S A GREAT IDEA."
Visuals, animation, effects, art direction, and presentation.
Does the music fit the fight?
Does it help create the atmosphere and make the encounter memorable?
The most important question:
Was it fun to play?
You only have 7 days.
We're not expecting a gigantic game.
You don't need 40 bosses, 15 hours of story, or a revolutionary engine.
We want a small, focused experience with personality.
One boss.
One fight.
One cool idea.
The Boss Fight Jam is inspired by the spirit of classic arcade games and, especially, the creativity and intensity found in games by Treasure.
One of the biggest inspirations for this jam is Astro Boy: Omega Factor.
There's something special about a boss fight that can turn a few minutes of gameplay into a memory that stays with you for years.
That's the feeling we want to celebrate.
We don't just want bosses.
When you finish your game, submit it through the jam page before the deadline.
Make sure to include:
And then...
Good luck, developer.
Create your boss.
Create your fight.
Make something unforgettable.
