Very cool visuals, but it felt a little bit buggy! I think this game has a lot of potential if you keep working on the idea. I really liked it!
Also, if you don't mind rating our game, it would really help us out!
Thank you for playing our game! We are currently working on bug fixing and adding a little it more polish :) Also, I'll check out and rate your game as soon as I am able!
I really enjoyed the boss fights and loved the bullet-hell kinda gameplay it had. Every boss fight was really unique and different, and my personal favorite was the cowboy dude's gun mechanic as it had me focusing on dodging and aiming for the boss. I personally thought that Bonnie's boss fight was a little too hard and reliant on rng at times since in some runs I'd have a bajillion cars start swerving at me out of nowhere, but it was overall still possible and easy enough with more practice. One thing I wish that the game did every time I died was that it would respawn me close to the bosses since moving towards them was a bit of a chore. Story and themes were pretty great overall as well.
Although there were quite a few bugs, it was pretty awesome overall.
Initially we got curious due to the game's great artstyle, but turns out the real masterpiece was the writing and the dialogue all along. This game probably had the best and also the funniest dialogue we've seen on this gamejam so far, and I hardly doubt anyone will even come close! It looked so unassuming at first, but as we kept attempting bosses and NPCs kept having more and more new dialogue, each better and funnier than the previous, providing more and more character expression and development, it actually felt unreal how much there's packed into this game. In the end, the story turned out to be surprisingly compelling, individual boss's arcs were quite impressive, and the ending was really satisfying, especially with all the short side-stories we got on the way (cactus and snake arc is goated). The gameplay also turned out to be surprisingly interesting, each boss was genuinely subversive, especially the very last one (although the second boss was far too easy compared to the rest, and didn't give us much chance to read second location's NPCs' dialogue). Despite some of its appearance, it turned to be an incredibly compelling game, and the fact that it was made in just 7 days is just astounding. Also we appreciated the similarities to Undertale/Deltarune's writing style, while still undoubtedly remaining an independent solid project :D
Although this is definitely our favorite game on this gamejam, there are still some points where it could be improved even further. First, it's somewhat buggy and unpolished, which was especially sad when the dialogue boxes went beyond the screen hiding some of the text (it turned out to be fixable by making the window narrower). If the game had more visual niceties, like effects on hitting the enemy, or more fleshed out transitions between areas, there'd be barely anything to criticize - we really hope you do finalize the game, because it does deserve to be known. Additionally, having to lose to the bosses to see more dialogue worked kinda well for harder bosses, but it's sad if you miss a ton of dialogue due to fluking the boss, and annoying to intentionally die to the boss to not miss it - though I'm not sure how exactly this could be remedied. Also at times it felt that the narrative strays a bit too far from our main goal, but the ending does conclude it quite nicely. Aaaaaaalso some of the map art looked a bit rough, especially on the 3rd world
So we really do hope you finalize this game, and we will definitely be recommending it to other people! It was truly, without a shadow of a doubt, one of the games we've ever played
Thank you so much!!!
We're all incredibly happy you enjoyed our game, and no worries, we're working on a finalized version with a bit more polish and bug fixes (and potentially balance). its probably a couple weeks out since making everything in a week was really draining for us, but rest assured we're getting there!
Hearing we made your favorite game was super motivating, thank you again for saying so ^u^
Btw the text on the buttons is blocking the actual button interactions.
Anyway, interesting game, I liked how the race area music had a riff that sounded like the start of a race. The dialogue was a little excessive, I ended up skipping most npcs so I could focus on the bosses.
Thank, we're working on a more final version with some fixes and a boss rush option.
Can you tell us which buttons weren't working?
The ones I noticed were in the main menu. If you hover your mouse over the text specifically, the button treats it as though you aren't hovering over it. I'm not sure how Godot handles this, but if it were a Unity project I'd suggest marking the text as not detecting raycasts.
Unfortunately this was so bugged for me to the point i couldnt play but i was able to really admire the Visuals!!! Hope i can getr it to run on my pc, wasnt sure about controlls or guidance either unfortunately
Hey! We're tahnkful you tried to play and sorry it didn't work
If you can describe what went wrong then we can try and help. we're working on a better build of the game right now as well
(controls are WASD and space to shoot with the mouse required for specific parts)
