The goal of this jam is simple: under constraints pushing creativity and innovation, we will make games that wouldn't have existed otherwise. We will push the borders of what games one could imagine! The sky's the limit, and we have the tools.
Each iteration has a different theme. These themes aim to tackle ideas that are at the border of conventionalism. We'll slightly break common sense and explore what lies beyond. If every game does something one way, we restrict those uses but keep the mechanics! What lies beyond? With this game jam, we will find out! Everyone is welcome to rack their brains around these topics.
Now what is the theme of the first iteration?
Out of the following pairs of genres, you can pick one and make a game with both of them integrated. So fundamentally, your job is to design and create a game with the genre pair you pick and make it work well.
| 0 Bullet Hell + Horror | 1 Puzzle + Racing |
| 2 Collectathon + Roguelike | 3 RTS + Jump 'n' Run |
| 4 FPS + idle | 5 Beat 'Em Up + Farming Sim |
Do use the number in front when submitting your game.
The games will be rated partially by the judges and optionally by viewers of the judging stream. The weight is 60% to 40% if enough votes come in. If the viewer vote fails for any of the games, it will not play a role for any submission. The criteria for ranking are...
Judge (60%)
Viewers (40%)
All entries except NSFW will be streamed live on the GreenyNeko Twitch channel after the submission ends. Between submissions, there is a voting break as the next game is set up.
After each submission has been rated and ranked, the top 5 games and the highest community-rated game will be presented in a YouTube video and immortalized on the GreenyNeko YouTube channel.
Using AI to solve the Jam's goal is cheating. The quality of assets is irrelevant for the final scores. As such, you won't need AI, and you won't be using AI. Show us your ideas instead!
Bigger teams don't necessarily make better games; there's no team size limit. The idea of a single person is on equal terms with the idea of a team. Just make sure you have the time for a fully fledged prototype!
An old game is not novel. We wanna see new games made.
Feel free to develop for any system you want, but do make sure the submissions run on Windows or in a Browser.
I don't see a reason to disallow NSFW content at this time. There's no benefit to it, though. Furthermore, these games will not be streamed and will appear on the YouTube channel, showing only the SFW parts or in a censored way. Do follow the laws, though.
