Negastar's Indie Arcade Jam: Build Your Dream Game

Get ready, developers! The Quad Cities Game Dev Collective is proud to announce Negastar's Indie Arcade Jam, a one-month virtual game development event designed to celebrate creativity and collaboration within our community.

From October 1st to October 31st, you and your team will have a full month to design, develop, and publish a game from scratch.

The Challenge:

And the theme is... Avoid the Void!

This jam challenges you to create a multiplayer game where the core objective is to survive the escalating danger of a mysterious Void and be the last player or team standing. The interpretation of "the Void" is flexible, allowing for any genre—from a co-op platformer to a competitive strategy game. For added inspiration, you can build your game around one of our optional Subthemes: The Void's Echo (the Void copies players' actions)

The Void Feeds (consuming the environment reveals valuable, risky resources)

Last Beacon Standing (the goal is to protect a core object, not just your life).

Embrace the chaos and find a creative new way to avoid the inevitable!

Who Can Join?

Whether you're a seasoned programmer, a talented artist, a budding game designer, or a complete beginner just looking to learn, you're welcome to participate! This jam is open to everyone, regardless of skill level or experience.

Mark your calendars, gather your teams, and get ready for a month of fun, creativity, and incredible game development! We can't wait to see what you create.

To ensure our game jam is a fun and safe experience for all participants and visitors, we ask that everyone adhere to the following rules:

No Explicit Content: All submissions must be free of sexually explicit, pornographic, or excessively suggestive content. This jam is intended for a general audience.

Gore and Violence: Games that contain gore, intense violence, or other mature themes are permitted. However, it is mandatory that your game's page includes a clear and prominent warning about the content so visitors can make an informed choice before playing.

Respect and Decorum: We have a zero-tolerance policy for bullying, harassment, hate speech, or any form of disrespectful behavior. This includes comments, communication, and content within your game. Let's maintain a positive and supportive community!

Originality of Content: The majority of your game's assets (code, art, music) should be created during the jam's duration. You may use pre-made, publicly available, and royalty-free assets (e.g., sound effects, textures) as long as you provide proper credit on your game's submission page.

Team Size: You may work solo or in a team of any size. Please make sure all team members are listed on your game's submission page.

Final Submission: All submissions must be uploaded to the official jam page by the final deadline. Late entries will not be accepted for judging.
