The relationship should matter. This isn’t just “an NPC follows you around”. They react, talk, and experience the forest with you.

Core Idea

A short, atmospheric forest experience focused on:

walking / exploring the woods

tracking something you’re hunting

small dialogue moments with your companion

subtle tension building over time

something slowly feeling “off” (or not, depending on your direction)

Companion Requirement

You must include 1 companion entity:

Human OR animal

Stays with player most of the time

Reacts to events in the world

Has contextual dialogue / behavior

Feels like a real presence, not just a follower system

Animal Companions can be things like:

hunting dog

bird (hawk/raven type vibe)

something more unusual if your game leans surreal

Tone Options

Pick your vibe:

cozy hunt with a loyal dog

emotional walk with a kid and their pet

quiet bonding trip that turns unsettling

horror forest where even the animal starts acting strange

melancholic “this is a memory” kind of story

Scope

Keep it tight:

10–30 min experience

one or two maps, one being the forest

one companion NPC (human or animal)

focus on mood over systems
