Welcome to the Player2 AI RPG Jam 2! This jam is about mods and indie games that transform an existing game — or build a new one — into a new genre of RPG where every NPC feels alive, and player conversation + actions dynamically reshape the story and the world.
Player2 makes it easy to add voice, memory, conversation history, and other NPC features with a free API. We also now provide the Player2 asset store, where developers get access to a variety of asset generation models to help build worlds, characters, content, and production assets faster.
Join our Discord to chat with the developer/player community. Read the submission requirements carefully to qualify for a prize.
The Challenge
Create a mod or web game that turns a game world into a “live movie” RPG:
- NPCs aren’t just chatbots — they remember, choose, react, plan, and change relationships.
- The player’s words and actions must cause real in-game events:
- quests branching or being created
- alliances formed / betrayals triggered
- factions shifting power
- new conflicts/war emerging
- The “main story” is being bent (or replaced) by what the player does
We want people to focus specifically on living fantasy worlds where AI embodies NPCs as well as drives stories and world events between kingdoms and factions. We especially want games or mods that allow the player to teleport, reincarnate, or be reborn into a fantasy world and live there.
Reference vibes (do not clone these games):
Examples of games you can mod: Paxhistoria but with npcs, Skyrim, Fallout, Cyberpunk, Baldur's Gate, GTA, Minecraft, Sims 4, Minecraft Bedrock, Hytale, eu5, Stellaris, Project Zomboid, Factorio, etc etc
Examples worlds you can teleport players into: Middle-earth, Westeros, Tamriel, The Continent, Runeterra, Azeroth, Hyrule, the Forgotten Realms, the Lands Between, feudal Japan during the Sengoku period, the Viking Age, Ancient Rome, Ancient Egypt, the Three Kingdoms period of China, the Byzantine Empire, the late medieval Holy Roman Empire, the Age of Discovery, World war I / II, etc etc.
Theme
A New Genre of RPG: Living NPCs + Dynamic World Story
This jam’s theme is NOT “add an AI chat window.” It’s: roleplay that drives world events.
Think:
- “Let the player live their own Fallout / Game of Thrones / Witcher movie inside the base game.”
- “Player choices and dialogue steer the plot and transform the world through event generation by AI.”
- “Let the player teleport, reincarnate, or awaken into a fantasy world and live a second life there.”
What We’re Looking For (and What We Won’t Reward)
✅ We encourage:
- Mods for popular base games
- Original indie web games
- Deep integration: dialogue ↔ systems ↔ narrative ↔ world events
- “Emergent story engines” powered by player behaviour
- Projects focused on living fantasy worlds
- Use of both the Player2 API and the Player2 asset store
❌ We will NOT reward:
- Exact clones of an existing theme-fitting mod on Player2 in the same base game. If you build in the same game, make sure it is significantly different/better from existing mods.
- Projects that are just an AI chat layer without meaningful story/world impact.
Rewards (New Structure)
We noticed past jams encouraged splitting projects into tiny demos to maximise chances—then lots of entries got abandoned after the jam. This time, rewards are designed to favour sustained development and real player usage.
That’s why we will go with a 2-week intense sprint for you to build the v0 / MVP, which is meant to be broken and just shows the skeleton of the game, followed by 2 months of continuous development.
All qualifying projects will be given the following rewards:
This time, all creators will receive an instant reward on top of revenue share. The reward amount will be 10x the revenue share during the two months, capped at $1000 with min value of $250.
Judging Criteria (Summary)
Judges will prioritize: Roleplay depth → world/story impact → replayability → stability → player traction
If your project is “cool chatting” but the world doesn’t change, it won’t score well.
