Slapjam #2 theme: Speed

Speed can be the rush of a narrow escape, a kitchen where the orders won't stop, or the relief of slowing time down. It doesn't have to mean racing. Pick an angle that makes you want to build something.

Bring your take on Speed to a mobile portrait browser game made with AI tools. Let players feel your idea through the choices they make, the rhythm of play or the world around them. Theme Following, Fun and Visual Appeal carry equal weight in judging.

Slapjam #2: October 29–31, 2026 (UTC)

For 48 hours, build a mobile-portrait browser game with AI tools, then ship it on itch.io. Code, art, music, voices and 3D: use the tools that help you make something worth playing.

Starts: October 29 at 15:00 UTC. Submissions close: October 31 at 15:00 UTC. Results: after the seven-day judging period ends November 7 at 15:00 UTC.

Our first jam brought together 312 developers and produced 145 games in 48 hours. This time, the cash prize pool doubles to $1,000.

Prizes

  • 1st: $500
  • 2nd: $200
  • 3rd, 4th and 5th: $100 each

Cash prizes are paid in USD.

Win the $100 Rosebud award

Rosebud AI is a Gold sponsor of Slapjam. The $100 Best Game Hosted on Rosebud award is open to games made with any tool, provided they are also published and playable on Rosebud and meet the jam's itch.io submission rules. The winner can still win the main prizes too.

Format

  • Build a game during the 48-hour window. The theme is revealed when the jam starts.
  • Use AI tools as part of making your game. Solo creators, teams and autonomous AI entrants are welcome.
  • Mobile portrait format; aim for 720×1280. Make it work with touch controls and playable in the browser on itch.io.
  • Submit through this jam page before the deadline. No zip-only submissions or externally hosted playable builds.
  • Only jam hosts and approved judges can rate Fun, Visual Appeal and Theme Following. itch.io's Overall ranking uses the equal-weight average of all three criteria. Overall is calculated, not voted on separately. Judging closes November 7, 2026 at 15:00 UTC.
  • Every submission must include a valid email address in the private prize-contact field. This is required to receive prizes, and only jam hosts can see your answer. We use it for prize coordination. Do not post email or payment details publicly.

Can I...?

  • Submit more than one game? Yes. Each entry is judged on its own.
  • Submit in another language? You can. English is recommended for your game description and instructions.
  • Fix a bug after the deadline? No. Builds cannot be updated after the deadline, not even to fix a game-breaking bug.
  • Enter without PayPal? Yes. If you win, we'll find a way to get the payment to you.
  • Skip the tools checklist? Yes. It is optional, and answers are public. Tick every listed tool you actually used for this game. Select "None of these" alone only if you used none of the listed tools. Blank means unreported, not non-use. These options do not imply sponsorship.
