Great atmosphere!
unstable memories dont let me remember what i wanted to say about this game
This is really really cool, I'm super impressed you managed to model as much as you did in the short span of a week. The story was really touching and just the right kind of short and simple that game jams are perfect for. The overall lighting and atmosphere was fantastic too, what a creative idea for a platformer! Only critique I would have is that the movement was a little hard to control (other comments have mentioned this though so don't worry about it) and it was difficult to position the objects to an angle to where you could jump on them, especially the log. I believe this is because the object's placement was based on your camera angle, so with the side of the log being so tall, it was hard to get it at an angle to be able to jump on it and simultaneously get to the next platform. If you were to go back and work on this more, I'd suggest adding a "rotate item" button with the scroll wheel or something, similar to the Gmod phys gun. Also experienced a few bugs with the islands disappearing/reappearing, but nothing too egregious. Overall, this is a really impressive entry for your first jam and as a solo dev. Great job!
Thank you for playing! When I finally got to do playtests with my friends, I realized just how AWFUL the log was lmao. I thought I'd go redesign it or replace every spot in the world with a different prop, but I still hadn't fully completed the game's story yet and out of everything, I didn't want people to be confused about the narrative I wanted to tell. If the log stayed, I'd probably give it a square collision box and redesign it where it would be easier to jump on it. I'll also keep rotating in mind for the next iteration of the game! I've already had lots of ideas to improve on this and I'll come back to this project later on. Thank you again!
A very moving story, in a well though game!
Thank you for playing! I was hoping people would really enjoy the story the most. Appreciate your comment!
I liked it, although before the portal i was considering not finishing the game because of the movement, but i did at last. The amosphere was actually spot on. The story was heart-warming at the end, nice touch that it was personal to you. Great music at the end :)
I understood the concept of this jam's seriousness criteria to mean how "childish" the game is actually, but I don't want to rate yours unfairly bc of that.
Feedback:
Options to adjust mouse sensitivity would be helpful, also brightness slider. The movement was really frustrating at times. It would've been better if the main focus wasn't on item placement and platforming on them with the current movement. Rather if the emphasis was more on platform rotation, which would've made the game fit more to the spin to win theme. There were too many texts sometimes.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! The movement is the only thing I'm not satisfied with, and I wish I had more time to improve upon it. I didn't go into this with the intention of actually creating a really dramatic and serious game, but it turned out that way the more I thought about the concept of memory loss, my own experiences, and the experiences of those close to me.
Even to those you decided to try this game, but don't want to finish it that is okay cause I completely understand! I'd rather have the honest feedback from peers than force you to endure something you don't wanna continue playing.
Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad you mentioned settings for mouse sensitivity and brightness, it wasn't even something that crossed my mind!
Nice atmosphere and I like the mechanics (spinning memories and manipulating objects). Platforming was tricky, the controls feel a bit slippery especially because you can't decelerate in midair.
Thank you for playing! I'm sorry the movement was so off, it was repurposed from a FPS project I had started and left lying around. I got so caught up in making all the models and stressing about other things I didn't give myself time to make the movement better. I'm glad the atmosphere worked because I really wanted that to be a huge sticking point!
No worries! Was still a fun playthrough, just thought I'd mention it for feedback. Great work! :)
Would like to play this but don't download game jam games, I have no clue if they're viruses, sorry
