This game is geared up to be a hit! Insert second gear pun here!
SERIOUSLY THOUGH very nicely designed puzzle game!
the idea is really fun and interesting for a puzzle game! and the game is well polished too
A fun idea! I though this was a super cool way of using the theme in the jam. Good luck!
The puzzle designs on this game are really clever and I really how easy it was to get familiar in earlier puzzle levels and get really engaged in later ones. Very nice and polished game!
Great game, I really got engaged in the puzzles. The concept is simple, but the puzzles you made become so complex, it’s really cool. The only thing I could see missing is a “next level” button to stay in the gameplay flow and make the transitions smoother, but really, that’s a small thing and it won’t affect my rating. Great submission!
good mechanic gameplay, I like the puzzle game and it’s cool! for high stage I need to thinking hard about to solve the puzzle. but it’s fun to play this game, maybe you only need to put statisfying music when put the gear and stage clear… 😄✨
Extremely polished and well made entry. The puzzles were well thought out and had very solid progression to it. I like how much mental math i had to do, kept me on my feet. Really good work!
okay, i played only half of levels cause im dumb, but wtf, yout game is so polished, great job to be honest, jealous of your skills. Wow, inspiration for me for higher standarts to myself
Very polished, nice gameplay! The UI looks incredibly professional! Nice!
Great puzzle game.. great brain teasers.. loved the level designs. Can be done alot and make a proper game out of it. Great submission. <3
Really cool puzzle game. I like the simple visual style, the colour scheme, the info on tooltips, the consistent UI, and many other things. There's a lot of details which make it feel polished and professional, like the animated loading screen, main menu, the animated text, and the fact it even has a level editor!
I'm coming from your post asking for constructive feedback. Quote from this post of yours: "I want to improve it and possibly release it in the future, so I need your feedback! Is it too hard, too easy, difficult to understand, you HATE it, you LOVE it! etc."
Despite enjoying puzzle games, and there are a lot of great things about this one, I naturally stopped playing on level VI the first time, because I ended up solving the puzzles before I understood what the puzzle was in the first place. The simple first levels, clearly intended to teach mechanics, can be easily brute forced or completed by accident. This left me feeling confused and unaccomplished while the game auto-returned me to the level select screen. To illustrate this, it was only on level IV when I figured out which box was providing power and which was receiving it. On later levels, there are a mix of good puzzles that got me thinking (e.g., XI, XV) and some that felt too easy for where they are (XVI, XVII trying to teach torque, maybe IV too). If I felt like I understood and deserved the wins I got, I would definitely consider purchasing the game!
I really like the look of the UI, and the tooltips in particular are very well done. It's clean and complete, but I have some notes for post-jam polish:
- On levels with multiple sources and receivers, I could not figure out which source/receiver the info on the top was referring to. It seemed to be attached to one of each. This was confusing.
- The banner at the beginning of each level disappeared too fast to read. Maybe have it disappear on keypress/click?
- It makes sense to have the puzzle name on the right instead of just saying "puzzle" (although it is quite funny to tell everyone that yes, this is indeed a puzzle).
- I found it unclear what "solved 01 (whitespace) \" meant, until I tried to figure it out just now. I still don't know why there is a slash (was conflicts supposed to be the same line?)
- The decimal point in target RPM on the right is hard to see. Makes it look like there's an extra zero.
- I always felt like I was reaching really far off up and left of the puzzle to select different gears. On my screen, there's a medium-gear-sized gap between the puzzle and gear selection. It would also be convenient to select through numbers for different gear sizes
I hope you find this helpful!
Looking at your comment again I totally blanked on replacing the title 'Puzzle' with the actual name of the puzzle, loool. Thanks for catching that, totally slipped my mind.
I agree with many of your points. The 'solved 01/' is some weird quirk of the font I used (I think) that I can't quite figure out, it's supposed to read 'solved 0/1', referring to each receiver on the board. I also like the idea of using number keys for the different gears. Regardless, thanks again for your feedback.
A very fun and challenging puzzle game! I'm seriously impressed with how much you managed to implement with all the levels, there was enough to keep me busy for quite some time. I also like the rpm and rotation conditions, very well done!
This was fun! Got frustrated at some parts, and then figured it out. Pretty much what you want from these types of games, so job well done :-)
This was so much fun! I think the only real issue I had was that the controls for placing gears could have used a little bit of polishing. Being able to pick up a gear and move it immediately without needing to remove it first and reselect it would go a long way, and being able to right click an empty spot while holding a gear to deselect it and remove the icon would be nice too. Also sound effects would be great, but I'm an audio nerd so of course I'm gonna say that hahaha. Placing gears had a lot of good feel to it though, and I really appreciated that they spun at a rate that matched their RPM. The indicator at the bottom that broke down the math and made the ratios easier to check at a glance was great too. I had already seen one gear-based game submitted to this jam, but ratios didn't play a role at all in it, so I was really excited to come across a game where that was utilized! I really enjoyed all the puzzles, played through and finished each of them. There's a lot of content here, great job!!
