Hey opsmaster24, I am a composer looking for some shorter gigs and this seems perfect!

My Soundcloud portfolio is here. I love to create retro, synth wave tracks and I have a passionate love for old tech (I mean, look at my studio name), so your games ascetic seems perfect to me. I charge £20  for a track of this length, we can iterate until you like what you hear. I can give you each individual track isolated so you can phase them in and out on intensity (or I can write another track for £10). I can obviously make it seamless.

I deplore the use of AI in music and arts so everything would be made by myself with my own mind.

Please E-mail me at cathodeinteractive@gmail.com (sorry, I operate by E-mail only)

Thank you and let me know what you think!

Hiya!

I'm a game maker, but I am looking to expand my composition portfolio (which you can find here) for more horror sound. I am excited to create some truly unsettling scores for you! I can create modern, orchestral or 8-bit style tracks, whatever fits your project. Please just reach out by my email cathodeinteractive@gmail.com

Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I am Cathode Interactive, I make games sometimes but right now I am focused on music! I love to create scores that hit a mood rather than a genre, with turns out sounds really nice on video games and films! I create a variety of different styles including but not limited to; cozy, horror/liminal and probably much more! I would love to help you and/or your team create the perfect atmosphere for your incredible project. Please find my budding and growing soundcloud portfolio here!

I would prefer a paid role, such as PFM (Per Finished Minute) or by track, however, I understand that most of us are doing this out of our bedrooms, so I am flexible on rates.

Thank you for reading and listening, and I hope we can help each other out!

Hello talented people

I have been wanting to get some work, preferably freelance to build my portfolio and earn a little cash. I have never done this before, so I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to attract some game devs/film makers looking for a composer.

My very new and growing portfolio can be found here if anyone is interested.

Thank you,

From Cathode Interactive

Hey! I am a composer looking to score your game soundtrack! I create vast sweeping soundscapes, moody horror music and even "band style" songs. Think the Backrooms, Stranger Things, No I'm Not A Human and Pacific Drive soundtracks. I enjoy making 80s style sounds using a mixture of analogue and digital gear. I also like to use these alongside orchestral and band sounds. I will do my best to make the song(s) feel part of the world you are creating. Find me on Soundcloud here.

I am looking for a paid role, either rev share, PFM (per minute of finished audio) or Milestone Flat Fees. Keep in mind I work on a flexible schedule, so it would be whenever I get a chance to write music. Rates PFM can be discussed if this suits your needs best.

If you think I could be of use to you and your project, leave me a reply! (please keep it a professional environment)

That's a crazy score out of 3500 entries! Next time I won't push for ratings as much, because I think a lot of people didn't play it and just put 3s across the board for a free rating. I'll see you in the GMTK game jam!

Thank you! I'm sure you could, I have only recently started puplicising my games, so I'm a newbie.

Ha! Oh! I think you might have played the original jam version, I updated the files for the better one, but itch takes a while to update on it's servers. In the new version, the pacing is greatly improved. I am still figuring out how I can utilise the movement for more original gameplay, because as you said, it isn't anything new. Thank you for the great feedback!

Hello everyone!

I am currently working on a prototype project, Cart Wars. It was made for The Very Serious Juniper Dev Game Jam in just seven days, but has been reworked a little since then. I would really appreciate if you took the time to play and leave feedback. It would help me out a ton. I am looking for feedback on gameplay, bugs and what you would want to see in the game to  play as a finished product. Leave your feedback either here or on the game page.

It's free to play obviously) and works in browser on most computers over the age of 14 years old, I know because I am making it on one that old.

Thank you again,

- Cathode Interactive

Thank you! These are two things I plan on fixing later on in development (when jam season is over). I guess sticking horns onto a shopping trolly at low res kinda does make it hart to understand... but I feel as though this might not be something I need to fix, as a little mystique here and there doesn't hurt ;) Thanks again!

Don't post your age online, it's not safe. But yes, age means nothing I make games, I might be a month old or 400 years old. It makes no difference

I hope so, I want one

There you go!

I recommend having a browser build for demos, as you are not selling a product, you are testing it. I like to think of marketing as king of the hill: When you are the vendor, you are the king on your game page, people want to play and buy it. When you are giving a free demo, the player is the king, you are asking for their short time and attention, so you need to make it as easy as possible. I can't download windows, but I will give the advice I can from the images/video: I think the art style is really nice, well defined. I think you might want to try and promote a more aggressive play style, as if I played this, I might find it easier to just run away and follow the coins. Maybe try making the police much faster than the player to force the player to find ways to crash them more often. I think you might want to have a more unique upgrade system. Maybe add some sort of mini game or another interaction to make it feel separate from the main gameplay; look at games like Pacific Drive and how they have more interaction built into the upgrades rather than just pressing a '+' button to watch a stat go up. Looks really cool and chaotic! Good luck and I hope I've been useful!

Ha! Fancy seeing you here! I gave feedback on your thumbnail! Sure I will, but here's a little deal: You gotta play and feedback on my short in-progress game: Cart Wars

That's a brilliant score for 3550 games! I released a new and improved version of my game the other day, Cart Wars, I would really appreciate it if you could give some feedback on the changes from the jam version!

That's an amazing rank all across the board! I had the same issue, the theme was not obvious enough so I think I lost a ton of marks on that. I expected more driving game to be honest, but my game kinda' sticks out like a sore thumb when it comes to theme cohesion.

Most people gave good feedback and often LOVED the game...idk

That's incredible! When I did rate4rate type things, I always gave feedback, but others probably didn't

I'm literally already working on another jam project! It's for the Brainless jam,

I hope I can place a little higher, also considering there are only 2,000 entrants this time...

Wish me luck!

Yeah, I did sooooooo much marketing/networking to get my 85 ratings, I would say it was harder than the jam itself!

You could call it Rack Man!

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the empty void that is !Post Voting Stage! What sis you guys get? What did you learn? What went poorly and what went well?

I was sourly humbled by what I got, I definitely over estimated what a first solo jam goes like:

I was very surprised at what I got because the comments were really positive. I should have done more play testing to get feedback, as this would have made it a world better. Either way, I have updated the game now with the fixes suggested in said comments.

ye-ACHOOO!-ah

Welcome to Cart Wars (Jam Edition)! In this high-octane, bullet hell/rouge-lite game, you play as a shopping souped-up shopping cart ramming other trollies! It's a fast paced and full of action, collect up to 4 upgrades to enhance your carts destructive capabilities and play 10 rounds increasing in difficulty. The game features custom top-down driving physics to give smooth, flowing movement.

Check it out today! Please leave feedback as it is a prototype and more ideas are always welcome!

See you in the checkout shoppers!

Rated! Except for a couple due to the fact I can't download Windows or any games.

Ahh... the visuals bring me back to the first few iPhones. Really fun game!

Playing through them now!

Rated! If you didn't get one it's either because: 1. I have rated it previously (looking at you never duck tape dynamite on a zombie) 2. I don't download games

I still want to help more people out, so keep sending them!

I love ancient Chinese and Japanese art, so this was such a cool and interactive visual language! Great job!

Hey all!

For the 9 hour remainder of this jam, I will be honestly rating as many games as I can in need of rates. Please send them to me and I will get on them as soon as I can. Don't expect a rate immediately, but I will rate them before the jam is up.

If you want to check out my game here it is.

Thanks, Cathode Interactive

Hey!

This is my first solo jam and I have been loving it! The community is really lovely and engaged with rating etc. It has been such a pleasure to play so many incredible games and find out what it takes to make a full (although small) game from start to finish. 10/10 game jam!

I am also really happy with the game I made, Cart Wars, as I got everything I wanted to into it. I plan on continuing work on it by learning through feedback (so maybe you could add some in the comments?). Thanks and good luck!

Cool idea! I was quite confused at first. I really like the style of art! Good for a first time jam game!

Hello my friend! I won't post any link 'cos I think we already rated each other in my thread. Just wanted to say hi!

It took a while to get used to, with the pressing UI instead of WASD. But it was still a fun time with the parry etc. Good luck!

Thanks! I tried to figure it out by using my 80 ratings and at 61st most ranked (currently) then I also considered my mostly positive comments (you're probably right though, realistically, top 1000)

*cough cough*

Yummy ratings (gonna check yours out too!) Cart Wars

I NEED to add the enemy indicator to my game for better navigation, you can read what I have planned in more detail here. I hope to expand the game greatly into a more polished, better driving game!

This was my first solo jam experience, I had done the art for other jams in the past, but this was new for me. I am super proud of my game Cart Wars and I would love to do this jam again, no regrets. I got my main mechanic of movement down on the first weekend, but after that, I had less spare time and more bugs as the game expanded. It was such a good thing to do as I learnt the whole process of putting a game on itch and marketing it to other devs. I'm already working on a full version of my game, so watch out for that. I tried to predict my ranking overall and I thought about 200th, so we'll see!

I am rating games on another thread, so if you need some, check that out. Bye!
