One good idea. One more round. ๐Ÿ”

You know that moment when you finish a round and immediately want another? That's what we're making.

Tiny Loop Jam is a free, online game jam about small games with a satisfying core loop. You have 9 days across 2 weekends. Work alone or bring a team, use any engine, and keep the scope small enough to finish. Your first jam is welcome here.

๐ŸŽฏ The theme: Small action. Big change.

Build around a simple, repeatable action whose consequences grow or change. Maybe each jump rearranges the level, each harvest changes your little garden, or each delivery alters the route home. A puzzle, a tiny arcade game, a cozy toy or something stranger can all fit.

There is no hidden theme reveal. You can plan now; make the game during the jam. There is no fixed playtime, screen count or art style. Aim for a first session someone can enjoy in about 2โ€“5 minutes. A loop can happen inside one playthrough; it doesn't have to mean restarting the game.

All deadlines are 18:00 UTC / 19:00 CET. itch.io's countdown is the final reference. Join before the start so the jam stays in your dashboard.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Pick your tools

Godot, Unity, GameMaker, GDevelop, Construct, Unreal, PICO-8, your own engine — use what works for you. 2D and 3D are both welcome. No required asset pack, purchase or external community account.

A browser build is encouraged because it makes your game easier to try, but downloadable games are welcome too. Include controls and a short explanation on your game page. Make the jam build free to play or download throughout submissions and voting.

๐Ÿ“‹ The rules

  1. Make a new game during the submission window. Planning, learning your tools and setting up a blank project beforehand are fine. Don't enter a previously finished game.
  2. Solo or team, any experience level. Add your collaborators to the itch.io project and credit their work. One entry per team.
  3. Use resources you have permission to use. Existing code libraries, templates, fonts, music and asset packs are allowed. Credit them and respect their licenses. Your own game design and jam work should be clear.
  4. Be transparent about AI tools. If you use generative AI for code, art, audio or text, say what it contributed in your credits and complete itch.io's AI disclosure accurately.
  5. Keep entries suitable for a general audience. No NSFW content, hate speech, harassment, stolen work or malicious files. Add clear warnings for flashing lights, jumpscares or other sensitive content.
  6. Submit a playable build before the deadline. A small finished prototype is enough. Upload early; you can improve it until submissions close. Files are locked during voting, then you can release a post-jam version.
  7. Play fairly. No vote trading, extra accounts or unrelated promotional submissions. An entry may also join another jam if it genuinely meets both sets of rules.

You keep all rights to your game. No source-code release or exclusivity is required. After voting, you're free to keep developing it and sell a later version. This is a community challenge with public results; no cash or physical prizes are offered.

โญ How voting works

Each submitting account can rate other entries. The three categories have equal weight in the overall result:

  • Fun & Game Feel: Does the main action feel good, and does the game make you want to keep playing?
  • Creative Loop: Is there an interesting take on the theme? Do repeated actions lead to meaningful changes?
  • Clarity: Can a new player understand the controls, goal and feedback?

Visual complexity and expensive assets aren't scoring categories. Rate the game you played, with its small scope in mind. You'll start with a queue of up to 5 random entries; after rating 5 you can choose other entries freely. Leave a useful comment when you can. Results appear automatically after voting ends.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Find a teammate. Show your progress.

Use the Community tab for team finding, questions, work-in-progress clips and feedback. When looking for teammates, mention your role, tools, availability and the size of game you want to make. Be kind and keep posts relevant to the jam.

Sharing a GIF or a playable prototype? Use #TinyLoopJam and link to this jam. You don't need to buy anything or follow anyone to participate.

Ready to make something small?

Join the jam, pick one action, and build a game around it. Give yourself time to finish — and leave room for one more round. ๐Ÿ”
