I was really impressed by the artwork and the call lines. It is clear that you put a lot of effort into these! Everything looks so polished. The voice lines add so much to the atmosphere of the game. Amazing work, truly impressive!

Honestly... I don't have anything to say. This is amazing.

I don't want to give too much away after playing this, but hopefully as many people can play this as possible in the jam.

About the quality of this game:

This is unbelievably great for a 3 hours jam. I might be shifting my focus onto visuals as well since my games, in contrast...wasn't as good lol. Your visual & sound designs are exceptional.

ahh forgot to reply, i looked at this on my phone. Thank you so much for the kind words! my favorite part of these jams is always the art/sound, the programming is a thing i am able to do but don't really enjoy as much, so I'm glad the art and sound was noticed.

3 hours and solo? Nahhh, man. I mean the game is good - really great, I just can't comprehend you making all the assets, 10+ voice recordings (Westy?), coding and everything else in that time. Can you break down your development process for me?

Developer(+1)

Absolutely! The code is pretty barebones, a whole lot of bandaids and spaghetti so i could get it out the door. my main thing that I do is art and sound in these jams, so that's the part that i prioritize.

My process for trijams has evolved over the course of this year, but the order i did this project specifically was:

  • Make 3 food and character sprites each, as well as some of the call lines
  • Implement core gameplay systems (in this case it's the call handler and the "customer")
  • from there i made a few more characters, as well as the rest of the call lines
  • stamina system, which is just clicking a button and resetting a number, but with some vignettes to make it look more polished
  • Last bits and bobs that will let the game work (end screens, bugfixes, misc. UI elements, etc...)

There were a few things I wanted to get to but couldn't, I had wanted to slowly put in piano music as the player completed the game, as well as some more sfx, but it was either that or an end screen and some final polish. In terms of asset making, I have had like 16 trijams at this point to pin it down, so I found that minimal colors and shading make the art process much much faster, and from there the rest of that optimization is just from honing the skills and knowing the tools.

Thanks for playing, and glad you liked it!

Thank you very much for your reply. I look up to you and try to make better games faster. That is an inspiration
