Sometimes the right rune still leads to a game over, and in my opinion it’s a bit too hard since all the runes look very similar. I think this could’ve been a great game with just a bit more time, but for 3 hours it’s a solid submission!
Yes, it's simple. And sometimes not obvious (right runes lead to gameover). But for a 3-hour game, it feels solid and more or less complete. Unfortunatelly, the gameplay is a bit boring, so I can't rate it high. But it's truth for most of the games here. So, I think, if I pressed "start" over 10 times and rated overall with 3/5, it's a success for a 3-hour game.
Thanks for the feedback. Like I said in another response, my original intent was to increase the number of runes gradually with each success to break up the monotony, but just didn't have the time. Interesting you were the second person to mention the correct rune lead to a game over. I didn't have that happen during my development, so maybe there is a certain set of sequences that is erroring that I didn't get since it is randomized.
That's a cool concept for the theme, and a nice way to get back to game dev after a while. I liked the moody atmosphere. Good job!
Thanks!
Considering it's your first jam in a year and a half, this isn't bad at all! Some kind of increasing difficulty would have been good. Perhaps longer and longer rune sequences?
Yep, that was exactly what I was thinking initially...starting with 1 rune, then 2, and so on until the player lost. Just didn't have the time. Maybe one day I'll come back and refine. Who knows lol.
Nice submission; simple concept, well-executed. The runes and the witch do get a bit lost with the background; some contrasting colours would have helped.
Thanks for the tip!
