You know that thing in TTRPGs that has been bothering you? Maybe it's factor of design, the industry, the wider aspects of the space. Maybe it's how people can consume without savoring. Perhaps it's how anti-intellectualism is starting to creep in just as much as predatory monetization. Or maybe it's something else all together, something eating at you that you have an opinion on but haven't felt safe enough to voice.

Whatever it is, we want to hear about it.

We want to hear about your wishes for your art, your hopes for the space in spite of the terrible things you've faced, we want to hear about your better future.

Whatever you do, face what you want to say head on. Don't dance around it, don't sidestep it out of politeness, ring the alarm bell. Sometimes there is a fire that people don't know about. Make us unable to ignore it.

RULES

  1. Write a manifesto
  2. Upload it as a text file, PDF, directly onto your itch project page, or any other format.
  3. Add a title to your manifesto, if you wish.
  4. Submit your manifesto to this jam.

EXTRAS

  • Please don't just republish something you wrote beforehand. If you do, please UPDATE IT! (Typo fixes count, just note them).
  • Don’t use LLMs/AI if you’re going to take part in this jam. We will haunt you at night if you do.

RESOURCES

MAKING A MANIFESTO

  • Write about TTRPGs, Make them, or Play them? All voices are welcome here.
  • Don't worry about quality. A manifesto is a academic paper of the people. Use what you have to make the best thing you can.
  • Feel free to experiment. Maybe your manifesto is a game, an audio file, a podcast. Whatever the format, make it how you see it best fits your message.
  • Your opinions do NOT exist in a vacuum. CITE YOUR SOURCES. This can take the form of referencing the text's name during the citation or a hyperlink to the text itself. This AV Club article by Grace Benfell on the controversy of critics not being allowed to play or review Silksong before release has great examples of what I mentioned previously.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

Thank you Haraiva for the third Manifesto Jam. Thank you Em Reed for the first and Max Myers for the second Manifesto Jams. These mostly focus on video games but Good Writers Are Perverts really changed how I write. Thank you to everyone that submitted for the first TTRPG Manifesto Jam. It's an Honor and Pleasure to write with you all.
