Nice art. Really liked the main character. The skill tree was also setup really good.
Great little concept reminding me of the Redwall series. I would love to see Pixel art consistency and a few more tooltips but well done on this little submission :)
10/10 would hoard nuts like Scrat from Ice Age again
That was a fun little game, I like the design of the main character and the nice little intro. Took a moment to figure out what I was supposed to do, but my hand was also being held for part of that process so it wasn't hard. Cool concept, I and interesting to play. It even has a leaderboard that people seem to be taking advantage of, great work!
Amazing game, and super polished! It did feel like stepping into the deep end initially but the progressive tutorial tips definitely helped! I also was a little confused at the Element shield breaking part, but I eventually got it. And that was the point where I realised that this game requires your utmost attention and pure skill to win, which I lack a lot in skill ahah. Great game and congrats! I enjoyed my time playing it, thank you!
Interesting mechanic! However, it's quite overwhelming currently. or maybe I just don't get it fully. How about just click the ability directly and the skill points relocate automatically? i mean no need to click reset every time. Overall, Good work!.
Love the art, really fantastic :)
Very cool game, it was very fun!
I really liked the concept. Not sure if you could pause the gameplay but idea of switching stats to fit the fights is really interesting.
The art direction is incredibly immersive and I rly dig it. I think if you built this out with a good story and really polish the ability switching this would be a great game to play :).
Loved this one !!! really cool concept, and a nice challenge curve. the enemies design are really clever. The slingshot tree seems broken however, i wasn't able to acess it :/. i loved the art too ! overall it was really cool, i had a fun time :)
also the fact that there's a leaderboard is just brilliant. but who tf got 1.2k acorn ahah i hardly go beyond 150 lmao
(also i must admit i found your game because i saw you commenting on a lot of other games, and your reviews are always neatly structured with little numbers and stuff and i was curious who was actually behind them lmao, if you want to check out mine i'll be honoured 😍)
I have that issue too. The issue is an itch issue. The problem is if your screen resolution is too small, the side bars from the itch webpage (the ones that say "add to collect" "rate for brackey's jam" are overlapping with the game, even if you aren't clicking them somehow the mouse is still registering as clicking outside the game window and the game goes inactive. You can fix it by increasing the resolution on your browser window so the black menu bars arent near the game. It's VERY annoying lol.
Thanks for enjoying our game and my reviews haha. As for how to get that many acorns, you just need to play a ton haha
Loved the concept and the encounter design. Really liked the story about it, the monsters' design was really nice, although in the beginning I felt it a bit repetitive. I loved that each encounter was about re-configuring your points to beat the enemies!
Only thing that bugged me was that one image of Bettlejuice, but that's just me I think.
Keep up the good work!
No no, you're right. The Beetlejuice pic was a fun placeholder, but I was going to swap it out with one of more detailed animated sprites. ...Instead I passed out at 3am after uploading.
Thanks for the feedback! We're definitely going to be making some balance tweaks for a post-jam release.
The base mechanics here are very fun; how quickly it gets into interesting formations of weaknesses you have to tree reset for is well-paced. Our friend watched us play this, and decided they should no longer have a grudge against auto-battlers because of it. If this had more than a week to be made, the first thing I'd want is a sound effect for our cooldowns; you can't really look at your own cooldowns, enemy rotations, and skill tree at the same time. Just not enough feedback is all. Amazing work getting an online leaderboard working for this, by the way!!
Thanks for giving it a go! That's cool to hear we could change your friend's mind. Completely agree, the cooldowns and some of the other stuff need to be a little more visible.
I loved the art!
Game looks awesome. Somehow I couldn't get past the enchanted shield even when reading instructions. If I understand it I should equip fire (to beat leaf shield) and then press E and Q. But the game is still stuck at the tutorial text to it. (I know I'm dumb and there is for sure some easy solution I'm missing)
Other than that nice pokemon style game. I will use my imagination to imagine how the game would look it the right background was used because bugs like this happen and they happened even to me.
Also put a skill point into the 'Enchant skill' after choosing the fire skill. That way when you Press 'E' you enchant the sword with Fire. Then Press 'Q' to attack with the fire sword.
Extra Tip: You'll want to then reset the staff tree and get the element the Beetle King is weak to afterward and kill him with that, watch out though because the Shield comes back!
And how to put skill point into the 'Enchant skill'. You mean in the skill tree or somewhere else,
Ya, the Enchant ability is in the Staff skill tree, the 3 elements are at the bottom, then the Modifiers to those elements is at the top "Aoe - hits multiple enemies "Cannon - Deals more damage to single target enemies" "Enchant - does the enchant ability as described before to remove shields"
Now I see it, thanks.
Got past that text.
awesome, glad you enjoy it!
Nice game! Felt like I was playing runescape, having to quickly switch the loadouts
Wish the art was more cohesive - the sprites, background and UI should've all been the same pixel size
It also felt hard to tell what attacks were effective/ineffective and how much damage everyone was doing.
Overall nice submission
Yes, unfortunately on upload to itch the background for the game dropped off and it's currently displaying our placeholder background ..so it looks disjointed. The true background is the one you see in the games thumbnail and Banner art on the page. Thanks for playing!
Great game! The art is adorable.
Wow amazing game! :D
Smooth and satisfying gameplay.
I really liked the ability to reset and adjust skills for each opponent it made switching up strategies a lot of fun! Also, the game has such a cute look i loved it.
Very nice design and unusual gameplay! I'd like to make the controls more casual - maybe making an autobattler game. If you think about it, controlling skills using Q, W, E and R is not necessary, they can be done without control, and the player can focus on strategy (instead of key spamming). I also understand that the "enchanting" key makes sense, maybe it should stay, but Q and W should be gone... Overall, great and interesting work!
