Track description | Creative process
UPDATE: I forgot to lower the LUFF volume of the track to the international standard, as I based it on the mixes of one musical style that is from my country (yes, it's noisy even at the lowest volume), unconsciously thinking that everyone would already be familiar with it, sorry guys!) - so I advise you to lower the volume before listening.

This is a composition for “Alternative Soundtrack - music jam #4”.

I called it the “Crypt of Cuca”. It has elements from my country (Brazil 🇧🇷), but maintains the aesthetic proposal of the game mentioned in the challenge. The BPM is also consistent with the gameplay controls.

The challenge is to compose a track as if it were for Crypt Of The Necrodancer (2015) - Coral Riff - Boss Battle

Very cool track, nice vocals and sfx here and there, maybe not enough energy for a boss track of that game, but drums are so nice and the mixing is so good! It was a pleasure to listen to it.

This is SO cool! I love the mixing, really fun to listen to with headphones. Some awesome funky lines as well from the lead and the little beeps add a really nice effect.

When it loaded it startled me because the overall volume was way too high for my headphones, but after turning it down it was a real pleasure to listen to! I feel like it fit the game really well while still taking it in a darker flavor.

Interesting song. The one thing is the snare in 0:28 sounds too harsh and loud, I would lower the volume and compress it a little.

Of course!

A very simplified and shallow addendum to the historical context:

“funk carioca“ is a style that arose in Brazil's urban peripheries, mainly in Rio de Janeiro (”carioca” is a term for those born in the capital). The artists had no money and no access to musical instruments or technological resources. So, they could only buy some K7 tapes that had some simple percussion from Japanese keyboards and some American ones. Then they would improvise very popular and simple lyrics over these beats. And most of them were funk and disco. But the media abrace it and today is a explosion here in South America.

Love all the percussive sounds, the haunting bitcrushed vocals (?) in the back. The mixing sounds very clean and professional. I wouldn't have thought to add a moombahton beat to the OST, you made it work surprisingly well

Oeh wow, this one is really distinct from the other tracks in this jam. I like the EDM feel and just the whole package. I think credibility wise it fits specifically this game a bit less because of the importance of rythm in this game. Great track nevertheless!
