Great game!! A bit weak with platformers but I could notice some clever designs and very cool movement system. I am really surprised you could make this in 1 week. Music and sounds were as good as can be. Couldn't finish the game will try again later and let you know once I finish it.

Kudos for making such a great game!!

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it! I would love for you to see the ending of the game :D. Thanks for playing even if it you weren't too well versed with the genre. Appreciate it!

15:38 and 238 deaths on the first go. 4:30.38 on the second with 48 deaths. Really good graphics and visual effects. I feel like you succeded in making what I wanted to make but didn't know how. The controls are good, though getting any height with the jump proved difficult. Some of the levels, the last one for example, you need to know a trick to get by, but then it becomes easy.

Developer

I'm glad you tried again for a faster time, and those are some pretty good stats! Appreciate the kind words, but I started game jams like... 2 weeks ago so I'm sure I'm not far ahead. If you have any questions about anything game dev/platformers specifically feel free to ask! I'm sure you can make what you envision next time with some feedback and having a few tricks in the bag. Also agreed the vertical movement was the thing I had the most trouble with haha. Without walls getting vertical height ain't easy so level design had to be very horizontal focused. (Agreed on the trick levels too they definitely need some touching up). Glad you enjoyed!

very nice game!

Thanks! Glad you liked it :)

The graphics and gameplay look really good! It plays like some of the big platformers like Celeste. Judging the distance of the zap is a little difficult, but I guess that's part of the difficulty. I found a glitch(?) where you can keep the zap after death if you get it at the same time as dying. Otherwise great game!

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed! And yea i definitely tried to get the feeling of Celeste's precision down. Im aware of that glitch but it's quite rare and the effect isn't really impactful at all so I didn't take time to fix it lol. Thanks for the kind words :D

Incredible game. That art, animation and sound effects are on point. Good job!

Thanks for the kind words! Glad you liked it :D

Ohhh my god, how could I not see this gem before? This is an amazing platforming challenge, with a good difficulty scale, precise movements, quick respawn, and a simple but beautiful art style. Congratulations, this is one of my favorite games so far and as a Celeste fan I can tell you that it is AMAZING, you achieved the feeling of playing a GREAT PLATFORMER, thanks for uploading this! 10/10

I will really appreciate you if you could adapt this game to a controller, since I really suck at keyboard and I get stucked in one of the latest rooms.

Developer(+1)

This is one of the nicest reviews I've been given easily. Thank you so much for the kind words! I will 100% add controller support when the jam period ends. I can't believe I forgot to add them (it would take like 5 minutes D:) Glad you enjoyed and thanks for playing!

This is way too good, I'd love to see this turn into a longer game! Had a minor softlock happen, but it's fine because I played this multiple times.

I will refrain from commenting my final death count to avoid humiliating myself.

Developer(+1)

Super glad you enjoyed it so much to play multiple times! I'm aware of soft locking due to the zap yea. Didn't have time to super fine tune it as there was always some situation where it would randomly glitched into the wall. There was a reset button though that I mentioned in the description. If you clicked R you would restart the screen as an anti-softlock measure (the best I could do with the time). I'll be sure to consider turning it into a longer experience! Appreciate it immensely!

Visually really pretty, I like the sounds too. Was too hard for me to pass the level when the zapping is introduced :D But overall really good, I'm just bad at it :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing regardless! Glad you enjoyed. Hopefully once the jam is over, I'll update the difficulty curve to be a bit more manageable for those unfamiliar with precision platformers :D

SUPER awesome! Very challenging levels, awesome art style, and were those Undertale sound effects thrown into the mix?

Sometimes if I died and I was holding left/backward for whatever movement I needed, I often ended up drifting back into the previous level on accident, which I had some concerns over since I was afraid of accidentally dying in that previous level and having to start from there again. I don't know if preventing you from going back to a previous level would be too much handholding for this type of game, though, so it's not that big of a gripe for me. Overall, fantastic job!

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed! And I'm sad that moving back a screen was an issue. I initially caught that when playtesting pretty late, and my quick bandaid fix was having a little wall preventing you from moving left right next to the respawn. Looks like it wasn't effective enough though as there was still an issue. Thanks for the feedback! Ill see what I can update post jam. Thanks for playing!

Submitted

This was fun!
If I can offer one small nitpick is that I would like all the moving objects to reset to the same position when I die.
That way I can find a quick rhythm and always stick with it instead of having to adapt to the way the level is when I spawn or wait for the right window

Developer(+1)

Thanks for enjoying! And i completely agree with your nitpick. Alot of the death oriented element were made fairly last minute (like the thunder respawning on death) and it passed my mind when I was in a massive rush. Will definitely update that post jam :)

Art is beautiful, so kudos! I'm not huge into precision platformers, so my thoughts on difficulty probably aren't super useful. I definitely bounced off after a few screens that were back-to-back just really difficult

Developer

Still glad you gave it a shot though. Thanks for playing! I'm glad people are liking the art because I've never done art before. I just recently started for games and I think I'm improving! In the future I do want to make something for accessibility purposes for people who aren't well versed in precision platformers though. Don't want to limit my audience from the get go.

This is a very well made entry, one of the best I've played so far and the critique is not to detract from it.

It does feel like the difficulty curve is a bit over the place, some levels are very, VERY difficult, and the next level is then very easy. Some of the additional gameplay mechanics (zap namely) feels inconsistent and I never got the feel for it.

Occasionally I felt like the jumping height was a bit inconsistent.

All that aside I had lots of fun and am very impressed with it. Good job :D

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thank you for the kind words and I take feedback in stride lol. I definitely think the screen difficulty is very all over the place as well. I need to see people playtest more to figure out what exactly is harder than what in the future, as I am way more versed in the game (I play tested for like 5 hours lmfaooo) everything seems simple. With the zap, I'm not sure exactly what would feel inconsistent, but I'll definitely look into it. It might just be that the introduction of the mechanic was rushed and didn't give time to flesh out the mechanics feeling before being thrown for a loop. Thank you for the review though. Appreciate it and glad you enjoyed!

i absolutely love the mechanics and difficulty, this is one of my favorite games in the jam for sure!

Developer

Thank you for the kind words! Appreciate it :D

What an great game! I really wanted to finish it, but it just became a bit too difficult for me (I might come back later to try again though xD) Such fun levels, a cute and cool concept as well :D
Mind checking out my entry?

Thanks for enjoying! I really do like the ending even if it is simple so I'd love for you to see it at some point. Glad you tried it at all though. I know it get's pretty tough.

Submitted

I successfully completed the game; it was very challenging and well-designed.

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for playing! I'm glad my levels felt well designed :)

Amazing game man. The game got really tough really quickly and I'm glad it did. Just about every level after the main mechanic is introduced is a banger. I especially like the level where you have to dash through a bunch of spike walls and double jump in the middle, very clever stuff. The ending was also super beautiful out of nowhere, the music really hit. Nice work

Developer

I appreciate the kind words immensely. Means a lot. Super glad you enjoyed :D

Submitted

I was a bit skeptical on the difficulty when I could immediately double jump and stick to walls, but wow it really gets tough. Great platformer. As a side note, I did get through the last screen without using one of the zaps lol not actually sure what the intended path is.

Time - 13:04:52
Deaths - 137

Developer

Glad you enjoyed and I'm so happy someone finally posted their time/death count lolol. As for the last screen, i do it with one zap as well lol. I think I left one in for leniency sake if someone were to use theirs early, but the last screen was very open ended (probably have to do more testing to figure out if that's a good thing). Thanks for playing!

I had a lot of fun with this one! Adding the stats at the end was a nice touch, made me try again from the start to see if I had gotten better or if it was just a fluke that I made it through haha. Great game!

Developer(+1)

I'm glad it motivated you to go again! My first thought would be that it would allow people in the comments to share and compare times, but that hasn't happened just yet haha. Thanks for playing!

Submitted

Very fun platformer that felt very well polished. Got stuck a couple times zapping but thankfully R to restart saved me. Definitely one of my favorites I've played this jam!

Developer

SO happy I implemented that r to restart at the last second haha. I'm glad it helped and thank you for the kind words!

Submitted (1 edit)

Completed in 169 deaths (a lot of the time I was suiciding on spawn ... )
Felt like the player was a bit too fast, making it hard to control it precisely.
Love the blobman
Nice submission!

Developer

Apppreciate the feedback. Thanks for playing!
