This is a nice, peaceful read that I need after reading some scary suspenseful entries. The story was well writen, the light VN transition was nicely done. I feel like the choice of using silhouette and patterned sprite suited better with the narrative than actual drawn sprites with visible face. It added a mysterious, dream-like atmosphere which is nice.
I must say this has to be the best written one so far. You had a story you wanted to tell and you did it well, if the cinematography is a bit bland compare to some other projects, I believe the story does compensate given that it's the most important part of any visual novel (in my opinion). Great job!
Wow, I'm impressed you got this all done on your own, even though you used some assets, the ability to do this all alone is great! The music is very peaceful, the starting scene with text going out of the image was slightly unsatisfying but not the biggest issue. I like that the girls fill art is a higabana (not sure if thats the right name) but its a cute touch especially fits the overall theme here. The little movements all the characters do is very nice and especially the altering camera angles, and animations as they run across the screen or pop up from below. Its all very charming and works well to avoid the biggest issue of how static a lot of VNs are. Great work! And of course the story is very nice, the ending was very sweet.
Thank you for your kind words! As you might have probably guessed, the diagonal framing on the opening scene was done very late in the jam. I had already done typesetting and had other things to do, so I decided to just…live with the out-of-bounds text for time being. The flowers are higanbana/spider lily, correct. Do you have difficulty in reading the text too? I’m taking everyone’s feedbacks regarding color balance and blurriness.
Nah, all text was pretty easy for me to read. And yeah, everyones got some rushed aspects in their game so thats all good :)
A wonderful piece of work, the story is well-written and the background music effectively immerses the reader into the story’s atmosphere. I specifically like the falling petals scene; it’s really beautiful!
Perhaps the UI could have more color contrast to improve readability, but other than that, this is an excellent piece! I’m looking forward to seeing the complete game!
Thank you for your kind words. Yes, I’m testing hues again. It appears that some colors look quite differently on the screen I use to develop this. I plan to include a colour picker too so the players can adjust it on their monitors just in case (once I know how to do this in Light.VN)
i really enjoyed the presentation of this dream. the visual presentation is really inspiring! the scene with the text in the window, and the sliding images like everything was a puppet show, i loved all of that. and the story of the recluse and the ghost girl was quite sweet, how it began to open up his world... amazing work!
Thank you for reading! I’m glad you could enjoy the story :D I’m really happy with how this came out too, managed to fit quite a lot in time for Spooktober.
