The game was super cute and the writing is super super cute as well. Enjoyed the matching gameplay. Somehow I managed not to nestwreck but I definitely accidently broke some hearts. Lol. It'd be super cool to see this as a more long form game in the future with different obstacles , arrow types, etc. Great game jam entry!

- Hey! You guys did an amazing job with this demo! I really love the direction you went with this. While the theme interpretation may be a bit of a stretch, I think it's actually a really cool idea. The art is amazing. The effort you all put into making the game play well and look good is apparent, both on the final product and the GDD. The controls and mechanics are simple and easy to pick up, especially with all the hints. The UI is great, which I see was a focus for you. Incorporating the visual novel bits in between fast-paced puzzles offers a good mixture of different gameplay types that keeps it interesting. The art is beautiful and goes well with the music. You all did a good job incorporating your ideas into a great demo. It almost seems like a complete game already, but I'd love to see what other mechanics you can implement for more variety in levels. Maybe slower paced puzzles mixed in? Longer stories spanning multiple levels? There're a lot of options. Great demo, and great job!

“All’s Fair in Love and War” is based on the popular idiom. The game is based on match-making and the courting behaviour of birds (and people alike!).
The player will try to woo their colleague by funding their endeavours from their job. This will require players to identify bird couples in fast-paced ‘puzzle-sort’ mechanic. After their shift, players can use the money from their shift to bring presents to their colleague and chat.
The gameplay is mainly delivered in two phases on a day-to-day basis. From 9 to 5, the player controls bird Cupid’s arrows through a point and click mechanic, matching the correct couples based on corresponding thought bubbles and trying to avoid homewrecking. This earns CC (cupid coins), which unlocks different daily items that the player can bring to their co-worker. The second phase is a visual novel style where the dialogue choices and responses are affected by the player’s bought item and their choices.
The game’s mechanics are simple, meaning it can be played with just a mouse! Left click selects dialogue and shoots, and right click zooms while in the shifts.
Please explain how your game fits the theme:
The definition of a ‘weapon’ on google being: “A thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage” meant there were a few ways to approach the theme. The well-known idiom “Alls fair in love and war” was the main inspiration. For one, love is a volatile force. The famous portrayal of ‘Cupid’ shows the bow and arrow as a driving force between love, and while there are positive reactions when you match up couples, accidentally breaking up pre-existing couples has a negative effect and inflicts ‘harm’.
The game emulates a top-down shooter, while not violent in nature. There is a secret fourth shift based on dialogue options that is a ‘heartbreaker’ level, with the full intention to nestwreck as many couples (destruction!!)
