Judge feedback

  • The game feels great and runs well. It reminds me of a turn based strategy game. The upgrades remind me of Slay the Spire. I like how the upgrades eventually change the sword. It would be nice to see a status page or popup or something similar, as it was a little hard to see the Regen of the character. I did notice how after every fight you would regen but I do feel as if it would nice to see that as an extra page.

Have you checked that your GDD is publicly accessible ?
Yes

Is your game set to public on itch.io so we can see it?
Yes

Summarise your game!
Take revenge on your enemies in this strategic rougelike

Please explain how your game fits the theme:
I made sure that since you are a sword, you have no control on the fight. Instead your trying to help your hero enact revenge for you.

Is there anything you'd like the judges to pay particular attention to?
Have fun with the gameplay, I put the most time into this

An auto battler with hand drawn art, yes please! The game play is intuitive and the upgrades/curses are fun to play around with. Nice job!

Developer

Thanks it means it lot!

Congrats on the submission!

I like the curse-choosing screen, nice purple aura - it almost looks like a shader. The pacifist upgrade is totally unviable though - halving attack is way to underwhelming, unless it's your first curse.

Developer

Yeah it is probably the worst for now. I wanted to add more curse that would give extra attack based on health, but I was running low on time. Thanks for the feedback!

Nice concept! I like that all art is hand drawn. Gives the game personality :)

Developer

Awesome to hear this. Thanks for trying my game!

Nice job! I'd like to see some more stats other than attack and hp, but what you've got a is a good foundation to build on!

Developer

You're spot on with the foundation. I wanted more stats like "bleed" or "lifesteal", but I just had a few stats to begin with.  Thanks for Playing!

Quite fun and I really liked the interpretation of the theme being all decisions made are by the player as the sword, all made solo too! I couldn't beat it, and I wished the RNG was controlled a bit more so that there are less chances of all enemies being tier 2 as soon as it becomes available, but still a pretty solid game. :)

Developer (1 edit)

You're right about the RNG, but that was the quickest way for me to implement. I wanted set levels/ enemies as you progress, but that was cut. Thanks for Playing!

Having set levels but with the curses still being randomized may actually turn it into a pretty cool memorization game. I say go for it. 😃

Finally managed to beat it! It did look simple at first, but there’s actual strategy behind it. It’s a solid game, definitely would benefit from variety, but I know this must’ve been a lot of work already. Great work!

Developer

I thought the game would be too hard, but its good to know someone beat it. I wanted to added more curse/ rare curses, but time caught up and they were cut. Thanks for playing!
