How does the game fit the theme?
You have to plan out and adjust your "Game Code" accordingly to achieve a win. If you mess up, then you must take off countless hours to fix whatever mistakes were made. Thus, you must really make sure... NOTHING can go wrong!

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
I made all the assets and everything myself, nothing was taken from anywhere else.

How many people worked on the game?

It was such a great idea, and the game visuals were really well polished!

I really love it!!

Developer

Im glad you liked the idea!

The idea is really creative and I love it ^^ I played for an hour or so and didn't win a single time though hahah Maybe skill issue, luck issue or metabalance of the game, but well the fact is that I didn't even win a single time, understanding the mechanics and everything.

Anyway I'll give a super good rating, love the concept, the art and the theme coverage, becouse nothing can go wrong in a gamedev jam... NOTHING !! hahahah

Much love and keep pushing forward.

Developer

STRATEGY SPOILER ALERT: DO NOT READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU WANT TO PLAY WITHOUT HINTS

Won my first try! Probably helped that I read the console and description and help menu. The values were:

-Damage: enough to one shot enemies. -Attack speed: 2.4 seconds. -health regen: 0.52 seconds. Basically make the player invincible.

The rest were unmodified. I didn’t even touch the other scripts. However the attack speed might have been a little fast as I had reached a point where if the enemies had stayed out of range for 0.1 seconds longer my win timer would have reset.

Where I would improve: implementing a guide to what makes it balanced directly into the actual game so that it’s winnable without outside help from reading the description.

The game itself is super creative, I loved it overall.

Ay nice job! Thanks for giving the shot a shot :D As for what the "balancing actually means" it does technically show everything you need to know in game :p Everything regarding the wind condition is shown in the console, just not too clear enough for a quick jam game lol so i added some stuff in the description
if you wanna spot on the winners leaderboard you can tell me what your end time was :p

Submitted(+1)

Definitely not on the leaderboards, but on the honourable mentions :)

Developer(+1)

Nope! You're entering the leaderboards :D All it takes is a win! Nice!

Help button, my savior! Haha I, too, struggled a little at the start - but after carefully reading through everything and messing around a little bit, I had a LOT of fun.

This is one of the most creative submissions I've seen in this jam - it's actually GENIUS. I loved how I had to look at the console, see what's wrong, and try to mess with the numbers to make it all work - that's such a cool gameplay concept! Add that to the programming theme and the jam and the fact that you "submit your game" at the end of the timer and such - absolute gold!

And yeah, a tutorial stage or something like that might've helped - but I can't possibly imagine you had the time to do that, being just one person and all! And besides, as I mentioned, after reading the help thingy - everything was mostly crystal clear!

The only stuff it didn't properly explain (Imo) was:

1. That I needed to press both keys of the "inspiration" together

2. That the "balancing" is being told via the console (was very confused what "balance the game" meant at first, haha)

3. That you can't re-assign a value until you revert the changes via debug mode

Butttt after I figured that stuff out, everything went very smoothly.

Insanely impressive stuff - S tier!

Developer(+1)

Im glad you were able to enjoy it! Realy happy that you managed to figure it out and all. Thanks for the feedback too!

Submitted(+1)

Everything comes together so well to make this game amazing!

  • I love the idea that the player's task is to find the correct keys to press, just like typing a code.
  • The concept of balancing is really cool—it adds a challenge while also making perfect sense in making a game.
  • The UI design is excellent! The instructions are clear and easy to follow. and I also like all the thing are so real.

Developer

Im glad that you liked it! Hope it wasnt too bad of a learning curve at the start :p

I did not do Dev Snippets justice and got it a low rating :(

No but really, this is a great concept for a game! I did find that it was a bit overwhelming at first, but once I'd played through it once and understood the assignment better, it became much clearer. I'm not nearly smart enough to win this game but I certainly had fun playing anyway, just to see what kind of tower defence setup I could get, all by just tuning variables. Great stuff!

Developer

Happy that you liked the concept! Definitely a bit of an overwhelming experience at the start lol

Submitted(+1)

I really liked the looks of this game! The tower defense felt juicy, and the code editor looks very real! The game was a little confusing and overwhelming at first, but the help button really helped! Overall, a very fun and creative game! Good job!

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked the visuals! Thanks for giving it a shot!

Submitted(+1)

Cool game! I made my tower so strong that no enemies could defeat me. Hehe!

Developer

Hehe! Glad you liked it :D If only that was the end goal of the game ;) If you wanna win you can try making everything be balanced instead of op ;p

Very cool game! Not only me decided to write a code about writing code :) Also visual and audio and idea are well planned.

Im glad that you liked the concept!

Cool idea!

Developer

Glad you liked it!

Nice, maybe you could add each key separately, because pressing 3 keys at the same time don't work on my keyboard, take a key with the input or unhandled input function, check if that key is in the keys possibles (if key in listOfKeys) and then make the logic for pressing 3 each time and then delete the 3 inputs, overall an interesting concept, a little bit hard to understand.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for giving it a shot! I actually did semi-add that function, since my keyboard also struggles with 3 keys lol. I made it so you only need to press and hold the first 2 keys, then you can let go and then press the 3rd key :D

Submitted(+1)

Great concept! I really liked the visuals and audio! Great work!

Developer

Happy that you loved the concept! Thanks for trying it!

Amazing idea, amazing visuals and amazing music! Great job!

Amazingly executed the UI thing! I like how you used the linux Hyperland like system for the game to present the theme properly!!

Great Work!!

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed the presentation! Have absolutely no clue what the linux thing is though :p just took inspiration from my brain lmao

Submitted

That is really amazing that you did this just from mind, taking no direct inspiration🙌🙌

Submitted(+1)

This game is by far most original idea i've seen on this jam.

Im glad you liked the idea!
