i'm another one that got softlocked after, but i did like what i played. the progression i think was really well designed, if you're smart with what you pick the return on your upgrades easily keeps pace with their increasing cost. it was a surprise when just as i thought the game was over the shark girl showed up, and then the squid girl too? cinema. (that's where i got stuck, exactly the same as pickledoge.) the sex and the main gameplay don't really feel like they have anything to do with one another, but i don't mind much, i'm here for that good good size diff

Yay, another awesome fish game in our hypnosis-themed jam! Love the fish names, the rarer the more fucking insane. My faves are le fish au chocolat, sugonmaballs (or something) and skibidi toilet fish.

A very large game for a single month! Unfortunately it locked my controls fairly late into play, but I got to see plenty before that happened. The animations are neat and there's a variety of sprites and illustrations. The dialogue is well written and has a bit of bounce to it! Big variety of funny fishes, I wish there was a direct way to hunt for something specific. The music felt fitting but more sounds may help players feel more involved.

I started off with the expectation that I'll just be fishing with occasional upgrades until I reach $1000, but new characters and plots just kept popping up as the game went on! Quite an ambitious project!

Hell yeah, another fishing dev.

I love the variety of fish you can get - from the moment I got the banana eel as my first one, I knew seeing the variety of fish was going to be a highlight of the game. I love that the more unique/irradiated fish are at the higher difficulties - I think my favorite was the plague fish. The visual novel parts were also great - the baseline idea of this tragic backstoried robot fishing to run away from their problems? amazing - and it’s a faithful implementation of the Stardew fishing system.

My critiques really echo Cloudbird’s - the fishing minigame is alright, and a decent implementation of the Stardew system. The walk speed really hurts though - speeding up both that and the casting animation speed would go a long way to making the main gameplay loop feel more snappy.

Solid little game!

Ember's walk speed is so slow it makes shuffling between the shop and the fishing pier a bit more painful than it ought to be.

The actual fishing minigame is alright. I like the art and the characters in play a lot more than the actual game to the point I half-wonder if the fishing element is detracting from what I liked about the VN bits. Intriguing either way. Good work!

Cute little game, I like the concept! That said, I think there’s a lot of room for improvement.

The good stuff first:

  • The story is interesting and well-written. Ember is a lovable character—I’d love to know more about her and the world in general.
  • I got the sexy scenes with Ava and Nikki. The dialogue and the art are great!
  • The fish types are really funny—some even made me giggle (the Skibber tho... 💀).

Now, about the gameplay...

  • Since the game is mainly focused on fishing, I think the minigame could be made a bit more complex.
    • Right now, the upgrades mostly make the minigame shorter. By the end, I could catch some fish in about a second without even moving, and I just spammed the minigame to get enough fish for the Ava scene. That's a shame because I ended up playing the fishing part only for the reward, not for the gameplay.
    • A simple change could be adding a second axis to the minigame instead of keeping it one-dimensional. You could bind horizontal movement to right-click, allowing the fish to move in a larger space and making the minigame more engaging. Just my opinion!
  • Also, Ember’s walking speed is reeeally slow (I didn’t find a run button, if there is one), which makes moving around tedious.
  • There are some bugs, but nothing game-breaking. For a game jam that’s totally fine. It’s just a shame the music doesn’t loop, though.

Again, the concept is great, and the story is engaging. With more time and polish, this could turn into a really solid game!

I was having fun with the game but then i got stuck after talking to the squid girl and there was no save system so i lost all my data. Would love to see a version of the game with the music working consistently and saves working

I was so sure I fixed Lilac's quests, I'll try to see what's wrong with them.

Wow okay even with the tagline I was not expecting a fishing game to hit me with such big emotions. Really great writing that managed to do a lot for characters and their stories without being too wordy, and felt weighty while still being fun. The variety of fish kept things exciting and the gear progression felt really good too! I liked that there were more than a couple improvements to make but they were always noticeable. A special note that I played with a cat in my lap and she was basically hypnotized by the rod animation, so extra unintended theme points lol.

Pretty gud art and a nice amount of story. Unfortunately my unlucky ass somehow was getting legendaries instead of a ugly aaa blobfish, I did spend quite a long time to get it.

solid little fishing game, wonderful designs, a bit buggy. But the world? the like. one punch man world going on outside the fishing game? obsessed. makes me want to know more about the world but never engage with it outside of fishing game.
