Very creative idea! I wasn't able to assemble the entire song but was able to make some decent progress. The UI took a bit of getting used to but was easy enough to use once I got a handle on it.
You managed to put a lot in one screen, impressive !
It’s a shame I don’t have an ear for music at all, it’s a bit hard for me, but I managed to get something for a little part !
I'm not even sure how to move tiles, sadly. I tried pressing the move tile button (2), moved right, pressed enter to swap, but I don't really know if it did. Do you have to do the same thing twice?
I'm sorry to hear the controls were confusing. The general flow is to press the number key to select which tool is active, then press Space or Enter to use the selected tool on the current tile. For movement, this causes you to grab the tile, then you need to press left or right to choose which direction to move it. You should hear a kind of riffling sound when you grab the tile, and a stone sliding sound when the tile moves.
It's definitely not the most intuitive controls, but I hope this helps!
Fun music puzzle. Definitely struggled when all pieces played at the same time so having the option to mute each channel was nice, although it would have been great to not have to pause and go through the menu. just a mute button on each channel would have been swell.
The interface was also very overwhelming at first while trying to play blind. I was also using gamepad. Some actions just were not very intuitive. Such as moving a tile. Once I have the tile selected, I would like to move it without having to reselect it. Clearer indicators as to when an action has finished would have been nice, such as finalizing a move or when you swap, the piece could auto play so you don't have to go through the hassle of trying to select the play button or remember shortcuts.
This was a fun time with some minor headaches, so overall great work and thanks for sharing your game!
Nice idea, music puzzles are always fun.
Maybe, given the complex interface I wouldn't have started with two voices and inversions, and maybe a little bit more guidance could improve the interface. But the core of the game is there! I hope you have time to develop it more!
I like this game!
Using royalty-free classical music to make a puzzle video game is a great idea.
Congratulations for it
I think there are some bugs in the TTS options menu. They come at a default volume and rate but if I try to adjust them they suddenly start from zero.
I am a bit confused playing the game without TTS enabled. I think it is a little verbose to describe the columns and tiles though. Which was why I turned it off. But now I don’t understand what the labels at the bottom menu mean.
Apart from that, the game looks really interesting. I like music, so I’d like the chance to play it. But these were a few difficulties I had when trying to play.
I was wondering also where is the bit of the music with the percussions?
And it’d be helpful to have progressively harder levels, starting easy.
Contratulations for the the creative and musical game.
I really enjoyed this submission! I loved the visuals of the blocks, and thought that the keyboard controls were inuitive (although I did use the mouse for a some navigation). Like others, I had trouble, mostly with the accompaniment, but I really enjoyed making progress on the main track.
If the Check Screen showed how many off I was, then I think that would have helped me know if I was making progress, and be a little more eager to complete the entire track.
Thank you for playing, and for the great feedback! Great idea to have the check screen show how many off you are, I'll be sure to add that in a future version!
It’s a mindbending puzzle. Admittedly, I had to give up when I was maybe one or two moves away from the solution. The melody came together pretty quickly for me, but the accompaniment was much harder to differentiate. The biggest bugs I found in the current build were the sliders on the settings screens starting at zero, and when moving tiles with the gamepad they seemed to always go left. I’d also be excited to see more puzzles and difficulty options here. Nice work!
Thank you! You're definitely not the only person who had trouble with the accompaniment, they sound extremely similar. I'll think about how I can address that in future versions. Thank you for the great feedback and bug reports!
Tile movement feels a little clunky. Sometimes when I thought I had moved a tile multiple times, it wasn't where I expected it to be. Maybe a hard mode where you can only hear the solution in its entirety instead of each column? Very enjoyable. Would love more puzzles.
I definitely agree about tile movement feeling clunky. I'll try to improve the whole mechanic even more for future versions, but for now I've added some TTS feedback when you perform a move. It's not ideal, but at least you know that something happened. Great idea for a hard mode to increase the difficulty. I'm glad you enjoyed the game, thanks for trying it out and providing great feedback!
I definitely need a Twinkle Twinkle Little Star puzzle to match my level of musical prowess.
This is a very creative and very challenging game.
As a suggestion to adjust difficulty, maybe give the option to limit the actions. Like no pitch reversals, or no order reversals. A segment sequence only could be an easier way to get started before progressing to more dimensions and challenges.
I hope you continue to develop this. It's a solid concept.
Thank you for playing, and for the great feedback! Excellent ideas for more options to adjust the difficulty, I'll be sure to incorporate those in the future!
