I liked this, that was clever. I will warn new players that you feel railroaded at a couple of points, but that's also deliberate.

I have some suggestions if you'd be willing to update this.

Favourite flower: a none option. For me, as a blind person, I've had no interest in flowers although there's smell of course which can work. But the good thing is you can just use imagination which is what I did, picking roses as it was the first thing I thought of, but a none would just make me feel more seen.

Other ideas for first date: theatre (broadway-esque or vegas-esque show), videogame, just chat.

Ideas for how this could fit a heartbreak:

Some answers could make you too extraverted, or intraverted, to the other lover. Essentially lack of balance.

I'm also wondering if there could be, whilst not a happier ending, a more simpler ending somehow where it'd just show that you're spending time away from each other. Again, it might have to be a specific path. But that might also not be the point of this, as the railroading is meant to make the player, I think, feel a little uneasy deliberately.

Also don't worry about the word watch, that's absolutely fine, watching the fireworks fits the verb of doing an activity, so if you change this, please, do not change that because as a blind person I use watch all the time, especially when talking about tv and yes, fireworks.

If it were me, I wouldn't have purchased anything for the person but chatted to figure out their personality and bond that way.

But perhaps the idea of this experience is to always end in heartbreak of some sort, hence it's description?

Hi, is there a chance you might be able to add screen reader support for this? I'm using Chrome on windws with NVDA, but I'm also wondering if the download version could be made accessible. NVDA is actually a free screen reader.

Hi, can you please try to add scren reader support to this game? That would be so cool especialy if it's dice, trivia and cards.

Hi, wow, nice work on the delving, although I now think the aria region is giving too much info, as it's saying about damage party took, which is quite good info but I was more on about the atmospheric stuff like when your party uses fireball or cents the kill or presses in, rather than absolutely everything. Although, perhaps in settings there could be some customisation for this, such as whether the aria is used at all, whether it announces atmosphere, total damage, or both.

Hi, how can I get cannonballs as items? I noticed I had one in my inventory but no idea how.

I know I've opened with something like this before, but, you're going to get it again: This is absolutely amazing! Seriously, I'm giving you a lot of praise on the audiogames forum right now.

Some bugs that I can remember:

I have noticed that on the delve screen, and in some other places which I'm still trying to rmember off the top of my head, some words are combining with each other on the buttons.

For instance, the region name and difficulty name of a dungeon. Instead of saying dungeon name, region name, difficulty, it's saying, dungeon name, region namedifficulty combining both the region name and difficulty as one word. The Cursed Ruinninefold Valemodest, instead of the cursed ruin, ninefold vale, modest. I like how it puts the description and such on a different line. Don't put everything on new lines though as it might make the button bigger for the sighted! Whether the button makes it with commas, or just puts a space, I'm wondering what to do here or if that's even doable.

I think it's meant to say

"The Cursed Ruin, NINEFOLD VALE, MODEST

Cracked mosaics and a hush that predates the fall.

5 rooms, 323g, The party is away about 4 days, Gold + blooding XP, offer expires in 14d"

When scrying, it's also combining things, when I think each new thing could benefit from being on a new line.

Goblin times 4 (sorry, I don't know how to do the times symbol)

Hobgoblin times 2

At the moment it's saying/rendering as

Goblin times 4hobgoblin times 2

etc or whatever the enemies are

Some of this combination stuff is also happening, I think, on the roster page when looking at a hero's full summary.

Battles:

When reading the account, I am not sure what it means by ROUND 4140481 felled

What does the "finish delve" button do? If I press it whilst down there, nothing seems to happen, and I've even checked above the menu navigation to see if it brings up a tutorial about it. There seems to be no popup or difference when I press it.

When I returned to the guild, it's said "two adventurers are unfit to delve", how can I find out who is unfit/how? It's asking me to rest before my next delve but I don't know if it's adventurers who are already back or the ones who are currently away.

Misc:

I am also working on something that could be added to the help part of settings, a tips for sightless guildmasters. It's describing the delve screen and stuff, and the idea of formations which for a blind person are going to be a very new thing. I'm getting there with it.

I also had a fun idea whereby I might see about trying to come up with a fun way to introduce an in-universe explanation for accessibility, the way you introduced the witness stone in the compendium. But I haven't been able to think of one yet.

Oh wow, this is awesome, again!
Thank you for all the work you are doing.
I have found some interesting things in the roster screen, just out of curiosity, why is the let a hero go button sometimes not available even if they are there? I've set it to just let them go but the button just says unavailable. I'm kind of just experimenting with all the different features at the moment, so I will make sure to save before I try this.

There is also a big bug. With NVDA, I usually go through the combo boxes on that screen by pressing numpad incert plus space to go into focus mode, then down arrow through the box, for instance which house gets first dibs when letting a hero go, instead of moving through the combo box, the game intercepts the shortcut as down arrow and I think takes you to the next roster member.

Also, underneath the roster table, could there be a heading with which roster member you're looking at, just before it starts showing their stats and such? Right now it goes straightt from the table to the roster member underneath but with no heading, making it a bit harder to navigate to that panel on the fly.

Wow. This is great! Combo boxes now, and no more emojis. The rest is just polish really.
The roster page now has a critical bug however, with the "fit" column only showing numbers, and also, for screen readers where it says about potential, seemed to, at least earlier, be done with various symbols rather than actual stars. If this gets updated, it might be easier to have things on separate lines. Like ability ****

Potential ***
Or perhaps have an option in accessibility to pick between stars, and words. At the moment the stars are only reading if I make NVDA spell a line, and it's two separate symbol types instead of just *** or such.

For delving, where you select the four heroes, I'm wondering if the one you've selected can say something on the button to tell you that's the onee you've selected. When a hero is unavailable, the button is correctly showing as unavailable when highlighting/reading it with NVDA. There are also ways that you can make it so that, for instance, a button's pressed/unpressed state can be announced. I do like that the party appears on the page as you select and I like the little tips, although they appear on the people tab, it just takes some getting used to.

For battle, I'm wondering about two things, firstly, if the combat could be done in an aria live container, which will announce attacks as they happen (especially the atmospheric stuff) set the container to polite so that the roles won't interupt each other. I might recommend adding this to accessibility options as an opt in until we know this works though.

Or, or maybe and, have the ability to read the resulting combat log, whilst read it all shows the nitty gritty which is great, also have a way to view the battle report round by round before pressing continue. This, however, would be an extra button on the page and the log wouldn't be there right away. So, on the results screen where it says if the party was victorious or defeated, a view combat log button should be there which would open the log as an overlay, simple overlay with a close button and just the log.

Is there a way you can change party formation mid-delve? I thought I came across that once but I might be imagining it.

I still have to see what happens when you press read it all, I haven't tried that yet.

Hi,
Wow, thank you for trying to fix things already, this is a quick turnaround time. Unfortunately the hot fix isn't working. For instance, in the training yard, if I press space on "what <hero name> does in the yard" (don't worry, the hero name does read correctly, like, for instance it'd say what Falian does in the yard or whatever the name is), anyway, back to the list thing, it brings up the list, but says "idle check" and doesn't let me go up and down in the list, even if I switch NVDA to focus mode.I think there might be an aria element you can use which makes these into listst that have numbered counts as well, so it might say idle, 1 of ... without you having to change too much. The alternative is combo boxes.
There are also some interesting things with labels, such as all of them having their graphics read out. So the screen reader's saying "mentor graphic training yard" instead of training yard. The one thing I do love, if there's something new at, say, the tavern, it'll say, "tavern, something new". This is brilliant. I don't want to sound patronizing here, but, seriously, you're so close to having a fully accessible game, and we don't really get games like this in the blind community. Keep this up, please, this is so good. There's more things to report as well, but I don't want to overwhelm you. If the lists can be fixed, that's a big point solved then I'd be happy to go into other details. I was going to put everything here, but I'd rather respect your time and not overwhelm if I can help it. Unless, would you prefer I tried to summarise everything in my next reply anyway? There isn't too much left to do.

Hi, I am using NVDA on Chrome, and the "approach a particular house" listbox isn't focusable once opened. Every other listbox on the first page worked fine. I get the feeling though that this game might end up being fairly playable, even with a lot to manage, and am willing to give it a go, but the "approach a particular house! menu just isn't working.

This is too quiet at full volume. I'd recommend something like F1 to announce any words that need typing with the screen reader as well, as a sighted person would be able to review words falling down a screen.
The truth is I can't understand what they're saying, except for the word "act" which I got. The rest just caught up to me. Eventually you'd be able to learn the audio only.

The only problem with this approach is that if you want to gather fruit, you then won't be able to, although if the dev has orked on spawn rates for items then maybe this could actually be a consideration. For the record, I've not even unlocked gathering yet.

I have a suggestion. Is there a way that it might just be able to detect if, say, NVDA is running at startup? Sapi is useful for those who on't have screen readers, but with stuff like prism surely just using a screen reader would be better, especially if a lot of blind people are playing this game.

HI, if you've made an account at the audiogames forum, have you posted in threstricted/new users topic? I'll be able to unrestrict you from there. If not, make sure you maximise your screen and then click register, go from there then post in the restrictions topic under introduce yourself.

Remember, this game has some more mainstream-like elements. It's not designed for you to get through it first time. This is not a 90's pc game where you just saved whenever you wanted. This is fairly brutal, bordering on roguelite teratory, and part of that is permedeath and learning how to survive.

Hi,
I am also on windows 11 and it seemed to work first time for me. I am in a folder where the game has been added as an exception to windows defender.
However, I have some questions about the gameplay, minor spoilers for first safe zone.

1, when does Bob get dialogue, apart from after the first time? I don't know if there could be a way to view the building's description again if you'd like.

2, how can I get and craft tools, or does that come later? I'm still only at level 2 or so.

Lastly, I'm part of the audiogames forum, and I don't know if this game has been mentioned over there. What would you like me to do? If you'd rather I leave it, then that's fine, I won't say anything until you're ready.

I sadly can't get this going with my screen reader but I love the main menu music. Would you consider doing an accessible version in the future as a different project? Especially if the game audio is a big focus anyway. You could even have the game be self voiced like "Old Man and The Sea" from Games for Blind Gamers 5 Jam.

Do you know if this game works with screen readers, especially if it's text-based? There's a screen reader on windows that's free called NVDA, and libraries like "tolk" which can output directly to screen readers. There is an nvda controller client dll file that can then be used to make it speak.

I am absolutely loving this so far, however can't access princess Tang Rio's pov after beating her in the first tournament. I get file does not exist. This has caused me to be unable to continue at all, and refreshing has caused my entire game to be eraised. There is also no option to disable POVS once enabled for the free version.

Your game page is lacking a description, only showing the more info and download options.

NVDA users: press spacebar on the frame then enter focus mode and press Y, it should start. Once I got it working, I absolutely loved it. I could now imagine this with hosts and such especially with the different question sets!

This is the best game of the jam for me so far, genuinely. You get a full five stars in all categories! I'm glad if you draw two breads in an initial draw that you don't get an auto sandwidge, although the other thing I've noticed is if you pick a card that plates cards, then in that chain pick another card that can plate, the plate effect doesn't trigger so you can't start epic chains.

This is designed for if you already have a screen reader running.

I like it so far, but I keep getting killed by the first zombie that I meet, or I have no idea how to interact with the machines. The manual also is conflicting, saying that left and right brackets switch weapons, but this actually switches radar targets, along with some opions not being translated to English (the biggest culpret being the controls menu) however, it is still a good concept. I also don't know how to check my coins, with every machine saying not enough coins. A tutorial mode that teaches the aiming mechanic, especially if you're going to try for verticle aiming, would also be useful.

Where is Sitrine, is she always at the entrance?

Can you please give me some hints on how to progress? The first spirit talks about gold, but I don't really know what to do. I've got: a shovel, a pick, I keep getting keys, but I don't really knowthe first real objective.

Really, really good submition! The one thing I'd say is it'd have been cool if enemies made sounds as they were moving, so you could get a sense of what sort of enemy there'd be. Perhaps as a future option?

I've found a major bug. Even though I am in screen reader mode, it's talking using both NVDA and sapi. This is on windows 11. Fixed by making sure that the first option you select is start game. I can't seem to get the read notes button to work, and the h key is for main menu but is also meant for backtracking, seemingly. I think something needs correcting there. Apart from that, I'm enjoying it so far.

I am really enjoying this so far, however, I can't progress past the third shot. I've tried launching the game twice, am able to shoot the first two which goes into the first story, can hit the next one but then it tells me something else and no mattre what I do, my spacebar doesn't work. Sadly, due to this, I feel I can't leave a rating at this time. There is also another bug where the menu keeps on overlapping with itself with no interupt.

I've given this a go, and to be honest I just found myself, even as a totally blind person, slambing into hazards. Good first effort but needs more polish.

A good first effort! I managed to get out on my second try. For a post-jam update it'd be cool if you have to go through multiple levels.

Hi, I'm a totally blind person, and I'm wondering if you might be able to make it so that the menus work with a screen reader. There is also a bug with, I think, level 4 which is where the difficulty ramps up, there are a couple of beats actually missing their audio cues meaning I've not been able to perfect this level yet.

I am using the NVDA screen reader, and if I click or press space bar on run game, nothing seems to happen, no sound plays. For a sound-based game, totally blind people should be able to play this.

I've got the game working, however this is legit too hard for what it is. It relies too much on luck, especially because you have to catch the coin in the exact center with no leaway. The sound sometimes sounds like it's in the center and it isn't, by one step. As a result, there is no skill.

Aah that makes sense, perhaps it could be a bug in the game then?

Yes. You are able to follow any event in any order, mixing and matching, jumping between characters. The description clarrifies this.

Hi, it's the blind fan of Viatica here. I can't wait to check out this project, I don't know if I will be playing through right now or waiting for a bit more to be released. But if this is based on music, I'm so excited about it!

Do you know if this works with screen readers?

Does this have the Ren'Py self voicing feature? If so, count me in as your first totally blind player/willing to be a tester.

Hi, I don't know if you're still looking at comments, but I have some very interesting news for you. I'm a blind person, and I['m able to advance the story but I had to click. If enter could just advance, that'd be great, then it's the world map: I've noticed that there are fotsteps, and if the character hits a wall or the end of the map, the footsteps stop. This is actually really cool! The only thing that would have to be added is a way to speak co-ordinates, and to show what's around you. I don't know how the hide and seek section works but if it's a door perhaps something like, door 2n, 1w or something. This thing seems very close to being accessible for the blind, it's just knowing which keyboard commands we could add to display some information.
