Hi chaoticneutral!,
Not sure if you checked your email, but you should have received one from itch/our jam. We have some prizes available for the jam participants, so make sure to claim a game key if you’d like one. Make sure to take a look and fill the form soon!
Sorry, but this isn't a rhythm game, its hitting keyboard buttons over 30 seconds of a song unrhythmatically.
I am sorry to hear you did not like the game, I completely understand how the fast paist nature of this game can make it a bit dificult for some players. And also i have been informed about bugs in the algerithm that actually deals with note detection. i am working on fixes as we speek, but if you do not mind could you give me the song yo tried to test this with?
I tried it with Eternal flame by the bangles, Manic monday by the bangles, and Cry for eternity by dragonforce, the dragonforce song was easyer then manic monday which makes no scence.
I'm sorry but the timing is off by quite a bit for me, it read out the letters very late as the tutorial is still being read when the letters appear. I couldn't play it I'm afraid.
in the new update i am releasing sshortly you will be able to set your own timing. It will also come with a new inhanced tutorial. Thank you for trying my game.
I … wasn’t even able to get past the medium stage of the tutorial. Not even with simplified controls enabled.
Granted, given that I am generally terrible at rhythm games, that is more likely to be a skill issue than a game issue. Especially since I didn’t do that much better even when picking a slow song from my library instead. But goodness, that’s one fast medium tutorial!
Because of this, I don’t feel like I can judge the game entirely fairly. It seems like a neat concept though. You might just wish to pick different sounds, as some are less recogniseable and easy-to-hear than others, and the sound associated with the letter d has a very noticeable silence before it plays.
I also accidentally changed the starting song speed by accident. I tried to set it back to exactly 1.0, but couldn’t, and kept getting 1.8 instead.
In the new update i am fixing the tutorial, although i doubt it was just a skill issue. The game is in very early development, and the tutorial is one of the worst parts of the game as it stands rightnow. Please sta watching forthe new update i will be releasing shortly
I love the concept of being able to pick any music I have an play guitar hero with it. I do think this has ways to improve, and I really want to see that, because the idea is grand.
Some things I faced that weren’t working so well:
When I start a song, it likes to read me a bunch of specs which are being read at the same time and over the song and the inputs I should be pressing. This always makes the start of the song difficult and steps me up for never being able to achieve 100% accuracy.
Hearing A, S, D, F doesn’t feel like the rightest way to do it, for some reason, but maybe I’m just not used to it, or it’s because it’s speaking not in tune with the song. It’s something to explore, though unfortunately I don’t have any explicit solution or suggestion to give. Maybe splitting up what each note does?
I think it’s always hard for me, as a sighted person, to understand the timing and cues of playing a blind-accessible rythm game. I was doing much better looking at it, and even more importantly, it felt better also. I wonder if making this controller accessible would help, because maybe the vibration would be less intrusive than hearing the guy talk?
I would love this to have easier modes (with less buttons to click). And maybe even instrument modes. Where I can choose to play with a specific instrument. Maybe we could start with a drum. But like, it’s important to keep things in tune, so this is quite tricky. I would love to see this become more musical, more enjoyable and intuitive musically, but - it’s just not there yet for me? I admit that I am at a big disadvantage for being a sighted person, but the bit about even playing without a screenreader and matching the boops in time, the boops are not playing in tune, so it doesn’t feel as melodic as I would wish it to be.
It’d be nice to see how long the song is when we are choosing what to play. Also, to know the difficulty and all the specs before we actually start playing.
So I would like to recommend you to play Bits and Bops and Rythm Doctor, which I know are two very acclaimed rythm-maded blind-accessible games. I haven’t played either, but I think they are good examples to look at and they might give interesting ideas for improving this game.
I really love the concept and I enjoyed a lot trying to play to a music I chose, and set up myself, (Toby’s music for Where the Wind Sings), which is beautiful, so I was getting emotional. So do please explore this more. I want to see updates and improvements. I hope this helps in that journey.

thank you so much for your kind words and advice, you can toggle the reading out in settings. Also when your blind you adapt to doing things that way, so blind people that are truely blind will be more adept at using audio qs. While sited people will be better using visual qs, hents why both options are there.
Nice submission!
I don’t have a lot of normal music on my computer, so it was really unique experience of plugging in a variety of things from ambient and jazz to grindcore and metalcore. The most consistent ones were obviously those with not a lot of moving parts and unchanging time signatures played to a click track. Because that’s typically more popular music with loud production, it would have been nice to have a slider to reduce the music volume.
I did manage to clear a few at lower difficulties with the visuals turned on, and observing the patterns along with the music had me very curious about what’s going on behind the scenes, but I don’t know how possible it would be for me without seeing the screen.
Did you have a good track for testing while developing this? Maybe something royalty-free to include with the download?
eh unfortunately nothing royalty free to test, but as for being able to reduce music volume thats another feature that will be added in m new update coming very soon. Maybe i could put some of my own chiptune/hack0re music in there for people.
Try some peritune songs, they are royalty-free: https://peritune.com
Or share your own music, it’d be even cooler.
I like the concept! However, a few tweaks are necessary.
The D lane's sound has delay compared with the others, is really hard to get this lane on time. The most important addition would be a way to set the song's BPM, volume and offset, whether in the game or using a .txt file with the same name as the audio file to write these settings. The game gives you an approximate BPM but it works better in slower songs.
