Description
Ghandia: Kingdom of the White Hare, is a game where you follow the lives of five different characters through the course of the empire.

The idea behind the music was to follow the rise of an imaginary empire that had a tying motif through each one. I used the cello as the main accompanying instrument, though I was not in ever song. Starting off the music starts a little tribal with horns and shakers. Then as the ages progress, more depth and color come through the strings, piano and other instruments till the fall.

1. Begin with Thal, the son of the Chieftain, and help him bring the tribes together to form a empire.

2. Fhall, the daughter of the temple. Help her bring the empire to a nation.

3. Yundon, Son of the High Guard, help him bring new lands and peoples under the Empires banner.

4. Yundon, continued, follow as the empire becomes attack from with in and with out. Its down fall.

5. Lastly, follow Timuth, the last survivor of the empire and help him to keep the memory of the empire alive.

DAW used: Ableton Live

Enjoy!

I really enjoyed this Jam. It allowed me to flex my music muscles a lot!
(If I had more time I would have had more songs. Sadly life got in the way.)

Awesome work! you really nailed the theme!

Hey really liked this one I think you got the vibe really well! Love the piano in the back of some of the tracks. I almost wanted to be able to hear more of it. All the elements you have blend together well and were mixed great. Really well done!

Developer

Thank you so much! Yah, I kind of did put the piano in the back a bit much. I usually do more with it but I wanted to do less with it since I have had it in a lot of my music. Thank you for your words, they are encouraging!

I really loved your submission !

All the soundtrack is very cohesive, and at the same time you managed to create various atmospheres and colors. I can hear so many different ideas, and they're very well composed and executed

I think my favorite is Rise of an Empire, I find it very elegant, and the piano is a really nice addition !

Very well done !

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Took a lot of hours, but I got there. Rise of an Empire was the first one that I made. It had the main theme and I just built it off of that song.

Take Care!

I can feel what 2Lazy means with the Jeremy Soule feels, you have that same very ambient type feel in a lot of these!

Also agree with some of the stuff about nudging notes for legato's and what not that others already mentioned, that stuff takes time to get to grips with (still having difficulty with that myself 😅).

Good job!

Developer

Thanks Eetu! This means a lot! (I will defiantly come to better grips with the nudging and legato's!) Only working with the DAW and music will help me with that.

Take Care!

Really enjoyed listening to this, although don't know why youtube had your songs list backwards..

Composition is tight, get some really cool vibes, like LOTR and GOT, mostly on Golden Age and War, which i believe were my favs, although I loved Horns of the hunt and how immersive it felt

I like the mix, sometimes I felt instruments fought a bit for space, but nothing too much, and some sections you could feel the plastic/midish sounds, but again nothing too much, few EQ's and Verbs should do the trick

Concept was on point, I can see a "god of war" game rolling with this fo sho!

Great job, take care :3

Developer

Thanks! I apricate your thoughts.  I am glad you liked it and that it gave you LOTR and GOT vibes! I wasn't even shooting for that. Horns of the Hunt was the last one I made, but I wish I had more time to work on it. I didn't get a chance to play with it more. Verbs I am getting better at using, but EQ's I have not quite figured out how to use them. LOL.

Take care! I liked your submission as well!

I like all the ideas you have, the mix sounds pretty bright in general, I think its just a question of some EQ on a couple of instruments to balance everything correctly. Most of your orchestration is pretty decent you probably just need to change some voicing to make everything sound wider. Golden age track I thought you were gonna do Game of Thrones theme for a moment not gonna lie XD. Good job :)

Developer

Thanks. I apricate it. That is a good idea. Need to use EQ better. Yes, it sort of had that feel didn't it! Game of Thrones!

The name "Ghandia: Kingdom of the White Hares", makes me think of Game of thrones. Nice work.

"Horns of the hunt" was my favorite.

Developer(+1)

Thanks. Hors of the hunt was a fun one to make. THough I wish I had spent more time with it to draw out the themes and such.

It kind of reminds me of Jeremy Soule. Some of the parts sounded mushy and could have been done with a legato patch, and I think it could have used a bit more dynamics as well. Overall though I think it's a pretty good album.

Developer

Thanks! Yes, I need to work on my dynamics and putting in legato's. I am not quite there yet. But I am working on it! Soon, I will reach your level lol.

Don't worry you'll get better, keep practicing!

Super relaxing opening - and musically the whole work is great! Particularly like vocal sections - a lovely pop of texture!

I noticed a touch of latency between forces at points so a wee trick to sort that! - legato string and brass samples tend to sound latent compared with your more plosive percussive or staccato sounds and thus need adjusted slightly - nudge them back a little to align them metronomically and it’ll really clean up the result of your score!

It’s lovely writing - nice work!

Developer

Thanks! I was surprised, myself, at how well the vocal sections came out. Thanks for the note and trick about the latentancy. I had not noticed it when I was working with the samples. I will do just that.

Developer

Hey everyone! If you comment on my submission I will 100% rate yours!

The way you mix the brass and string sections is very smooth. I love the suspended chords as well!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I love mixing brass and strings together to make rich smooth sounds! Though, I am not an expert at it.

All of these tracks are great, but I especially liked both the first and the last. The first one, "just because", and the last one for its wistful air that fits the backstory you came up with. I can imagine Timuth's story being the frame narrative for the whole, marking both the beginning and the end, with each of the previous characters' stories being recalled by him as he visits the ruins of the Empire.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah, I liked making the last one as well. Golden age is my favorite though. Yes, that is the exact idea that was in my head! Timuth concludes everything by recalling all the previous ones. I should have had those hunting horns some where in it though hmm. Again, thank you! This was a great jam.

love the dynamic and development, I love it.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Took a lot out of me to make it. But I had fun.

Really enjoyed the compositions and use of strings and horns especially! Nice entry.

Developer(+1)

Thanks! I love using strings and horns. They came out really nice.
